I'll be streaming my new scenario, Operation El Dorado Canyon, 1986 this Saturday starting at 8am PDT. For this stream I'll be doing it in real time with no time acceleration.
Real time? From Lakenheath to Tripoli? The 'long way'? Take your imodium and stock up on piddle packs!
Luckily I'll be playing it from the comfort of my home command center with a bathroom 10 steps away and a house full of food...and coffee, lots of coffee.
Not sure why I agreed to stream it in real time when it was suggested to me. Sounded a lot better when it was still a semi distant thing. But a promise is a promise...

Kushan - just got my Red Storm box from GMT. I was thinking it would be good, but it's amazing! They put a lot of work into this.

Everyone seems to be getting it but me...
I've heard the same from everyone I've talked to about it. Really hoping it will help clear the mental blocks on a CENTFRONT CMANO air scenario. I started one a few years ago but it was quickly becoming the largest scenario known to man and would have been completely unplayable if I had finished it.

I'd play it.

I have though about a similar scenario but have backed away form it because of the vastness. I thought about just breaking it into a small piece like just the area in the 2nd TAF responsibility. Even then it would be hard to model the ground campaign.
Also, always bothered me that NATO aircraft like the F-111F and Tornado cannot really use LGB in a CENTFRONT scenario as the 10,000 ft minimum altitude would just end up in a slaughter. Actual NATO doctrine called for lob/toss bombing but C:MANO does model this

You may have missed a recent DB update in which we lowered this limit to 2000ft IIRC. This is roughly consistent with the ceiling of a loft-toss manouver.

I'd thought about breaking it up as well and didn't for exactly that reason too. I've also thought about going smaller. You would command a strike on a really small set of objectives. For lack of a better example, rather then commanding all of Operation Dreamland you would only command one of the bridge or airfield strikes. So it be about maneuvering around known AD and aircraft patrols to hit your target. But it also hard to cut out what would be going on around you.

One of the thing I'm looking forward the most in CMO is expanded ground ops. I've had a Air Land Battle / US Army CAB scenario outlined for a long time. Things like cover / concealment will make it a lot more interesting.

This is a tough nut to crack. I've considered it a lot. Each mission would almost need to be broken down into three parts:
1. A2A, Offensive Counter Air or a Fighter Sweep in older terms
2. SEAD/DEAD
3. Strike
This could all conceivably be in one scenario, but I think you'd want to limit that scenario to 8 hours or less and Lua forces in and out. Hard to imagine a large strike going in being smaller than about 30-50 AC (12-18 A2A, 6-10 SEAD, 12-18 strikers plus as few support), and the reacting force being at least that. So even a small mission is a fairly busy scenario.
It would all have to be air centric, no naval action as that is on the flanks. Do-able but tricky.

My copy of Red Storm should be arriving tomorrow! Now I need to finish up El Dorado Canyon and my Iran scenario before I get distracted by another new shiny scenario idea.
