is it actually too late to turn around?
Absolutely not - and I mean that in the strongest sense looking above. You have by no means crossed any no return line or even come close to one. Worst case is you lose a turn of air cover while fatigue gets rubbed out. And even that is an extreme measure. It is just a case of do whats best from now on.

From my perspective, I feel good about my air situation but not out of danger. That won't be until next year at the earliest.

German turn ten saw a continuation of the previous turn’s offensive in the northern front. German armor cut off the city of Leningrad from the land side. I expect a big push from the Germans to clear the far side of Lake Ladoga. They will have to cross the Volkhov River, a major obstacle. I am going to do everything I can to prevent that and keep supplies moving to force them into the expensive street fighting they apparently hope to prevent. The German air force is a little more active up here, but I still feel that I am making good progress towards gaining air parity.
There was the beginnings of a small offensive east of Velikie Luki. I think the terrain there will keep German advances to a minimum, but obviously he is trying to keep me from sending too much power up to the north.

In the center, a small German armored force has been sitting around the railhead for two turns now. At first I thought they might be entraining for the southern front, but now I think they are refitting and building up for an offensive move. German armor continues to push for Bryansk, a little more aggressively now as I was able to cut off one Panzer Division. Western Front has been taking the brunt of the German push so far, and I am waiting for the NKVD to shoot the commander and save me the 14 AP necessary to replace him.

In the south, German tanks turn away from Kiev (as do Soviet ones) and begin a push to the southeast. It looks like their objective is a crossing the Dnepr at or near Cherkassy, with exploitation to the south. I hold two hilltop positions that are two hexes apart, constricting their salient and hopefully reducing movement points of units that have to go past. Farther south, six Romanian infantry units jumped into a push between the two river lines and managed to get themselves pocketed. This might be or have been an intended second thrust leading to a pocket of my front-line guys, as the southern front is not so well-defended as the center. Most of those factories are gone, anyway.

Axis Turn 11.
With all enemy resistance eliminated west of the Volkhov line (outside of cut-off Leningrad), 4PG, 16 and 18 Armies mass along the west bank of the river. The river line is actually breached on the southernmost point of the line, with two divisions clinging to a beachhead. There were attacks by the Finns in the north but these were easily repulsed by the enemy.

A view of the front from south of Lake Ilmen to north of Smolensk. Some minor, probing attacks occur along this stretch of the line.

AGC
Major attacks along an 80-mile stretch of front extending from about 60 miles south-est of Smolensk, culminating in a 20 mile-wide penetration through the dense enemy defense line to a point some 50 miles south-west of Vyazma (embarrassingly, I don't have a screenshot of this area). Pictured in the south, 2 Army finally makes contact with MLR on the eastern fringe of the Marshes.

AGS.
Another area of intense activity as 1PG penetrates southward into the rear of the Soviet defense line south of Kiev. (Kiev itself is ringed for the moment, though a couple of attacks against it's outer defense line are conducted as 6 Army prepares to for the street-to-street fighting to come). 11 Army joins 1PG's attack from the west, leading to the collapse of part of the Soviet line. German armor rolls into and through Kirovograd but is needed elsewhere by the end of the week.
The Luftwaffe was held back from any kind of large-scale serious offensive action this week, reeling from the sustained, intense attacks by the Soviet air forces. Still, some ground support missions were conducted. The strain on the fighters is becoming all-too obvious.

It has taken some time to get here, but the boots-on-the-ground perspective is that the Soviet line is definitely weakening. And now that I have some breakthroughs and am behind his fortified line in places, it seems that there is simply too much area for the Reds to cover effectively. Which leads to two of my favorite paraphrases in military history: "fight them where they ain't" and "one who tries to defend everything defends nothing".

When I saw Doctorkings last southern post I was hoping you were going to do something like that
You can now roll back his entire southern front now if you keep hold of the initiative without allowing it to turn into a drawn out death struggle
Good job in the south man that is gonna make a nice difference!

It makes a difference if they refit in a city? How about railheads? Does this apply to USSR armor as well?

My understanding is that refit happens faster if conducted at railheads, I hope so anyway, because that's how I (usually) do it. As for Soviet armor in cities- I don't know for sure. I would think so...
