You took a serious risk putting the KB so close to Rabaul. If the allies had been able to put LBA there, it could have been a perfect trap on the allied side. BUT, you clearly analyzed is correctly: they didn't (couldn't?) get the air assets in place and your gamble paid off HUGE!!!

JFB dream scenario: Jan 42 and the allies are without any CV's of consequence until Mar '43. Sure Hornet and Wasp and a couple of Brits, but you are now fully able to create 2 CV TF's that are unstoppable until Mar '43. WOW!!! And even a mini-KB out of CVL/CVE is pretty much self sufficient.

Yeah, carrier superiority a IJ commander usually only dreams of. Mundy had LBA at Rabaul but think about the date, there is no Allied LBA at this stage of the war KB has to be afraid of, especially as I've upped its strenght with the CVLs. I really didn't see it as a gamble, was more like a bluff on Mundy's side and I called it with a straight flush. No Allied carrier should go within 30 hexes of KB until mid/end 42 at the earliest, at least that's what I usually do as the Allied.

didn't expect to see the small convoy survive as I had nearly 80 bombers ready to attack but in the end we only sink one of the transports outright and the convoy will reach Rabaul tomorrow... [8|] I doubt the transports will get out again if not totally lucky but a good number of troops will most likely reach Rabaul instead of being sunk on the ships... 13 Nells attacked DD Stuart which is of course total waste...

when the B-17 couldn't hit anything Mundy's Banshees again perform excellent... never seen those low skilled Army divebombers really achieving something but he gets results like I do with highly skilled KB bomber pilots... the difference is that my Vals drop 250kg bombs that do shit and his bombers drop 1000lb bombs that sink freighters with one hit... all three freighters are so heavily damaged and burning that all will sink... this convoy brings base forces and engineers to Lae to build up the base... no imagine the convoy moving as ordered and the 90 Zeroes on CAP waiting for the enemy...[8|] had way too many screw ups in this campaign already, can live with wrong decisions of mine but things like this are just pissing me off...

I've started recon over Port Blair a week ago or so and have not only discovered a strong ground presence there but also convoys going in and out... by now there are reported 13 units but only 10000 troops in total so we are talking mostly small base forces I guess... a cruiser squadron from Singapore was ordered to move North trying to catch some shipping... I'm not happy to engage the Royal Navy with their cruisers but thought it was worth a try and the first convoy we meet is still unloading, probably motorized support that is unloading really slow... PC Jumna looked like a small cruiser in the replay, it's a 5pt Indian PC...
