I mean you do the big Irish thing in your avatar and you don't know the name of the current Taoiseach (ok to be fair he's current only in the role till a new coalition govt is formed)
Sorry I thought you were speaking from the perspective of someone who lived in Ireland because of what you said. You did bring it up you know so I explained. [;)]

You're making as much sense as the numpties who go to watch Celtic and start chanting 'up the RA'.
I cited from a newspaper that quoted the official death rates for the Republic of Ireland, I am not Irish and oddly I don't think you have to be Irish to do that. Unlike you, I seem to know the name of the current Taoiseach which is probably why you missed the relevance of indicating the data comes from Varadkur.

Just because someone claims Irish ancestry does not mean that they follow the politics of Ireland.

I don't know the names of 90% or more of the national leaders on the planet. What's your point?

Mississippi mayor nixes ban on drive-in services after DOJ intervention
A day after the Justice Department intervened on behalf of a local church in a lawsuit over a ban on drive-in services in Greenville, Miss., due to city COVID-19 social distancing restrictions, the mayor now says such religious gatherings are allowed.
“Today, given the definitive guidance from the governor, in the city of Greenville we will allow drive-in and parking lot services in the city – so long as families stay in their cars with windows up,” Greenville Mayor Errick Simmons said in a press conference Wednesday streamed over Facebook Live.
.
.
.
He said that during a call with mayors from around the state, Gov. Tate Reeves had told the local leaders that drive-in services “are safe” when congregants follow social distancing guidelines and remain in their separate cars with their windows up.
"The City of Greenville fined congregants $500 per person for attending these parking lot services – while permitting citizens to attend nearby drive-in restaurants, even with their windows open,” Attorney General Bill Barr said Tuesday, echoing concerns of critics of the ban who said it singled out religious institutions unfairly.

I should listen to myself I have vision like clarity. I said this in the previous New Corona virus thread.
I was pretty close to being right. No craziness when it comes to China.
"In fact, China doesn't seem to think it that serious, why did they reject the offer of our governments help. Its a crazy theory but is it possible they see this a way eradicate some of their overcrowded population."
Now we know they did produce the virus. Only real life can be stranger then fantasy.
News headline today
There is an increasing belief that the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) originated in a lab in Wuhan, China -- not as a bioweapon -- but as part of Beijing's effort to identify and treat viruses to enhance its own international prestige, according to sources.

In november 2013, the Chinese relaxed the one-child policy. Why? because the population pyramid is starting to look like the west's pyramid aka

my point is I cited official figures from the Republic of Ireland (& that apply purely in the Republic). Now since they have a substantial degree of wider testing and contact tracing they probably are more accurate than those reported by many states - in effect they are capturing a lot more of the 'ill but not hospitalised' than say England.
You bang on about this is wrong on a global scale.
I agree, its the data from one small country and I mentioned that Varadkur is both the leader and a practising doctor. My mistake was to assume that someone who does a big thing about being 'Irish' in their avatar would know something about the place.
I hadn't realised your connection was some fantasy from the mid-seventeenth century. Makes me worry you are similar to some rather odd Americans who used to turn up where I worked in Caithness a few years back. Part of that was a serious academic centre researching the clearances and they would want evidence that granny had been evicted from the ancestral croft by English soldiers at bayonet point or had been at Culloden etc. Usually it turned out, they had no links, perhaps one ancestor had moved to the Americas from Lowland Scotland.
So as with Statler, apologies I made the mistake of assuming you knew what you were talking about ...[;)]

Why do you constantly defend the Chinese Communist Government and their lies? The truth is that the Chinese created this virus and unleashed it first on their own people and then on the world. The Chinese Communists are to blame and bear full responsibility for all the deaths..
That is the truth, but you seem to be a denier of the facts and a defender of one of the most vile murderous and lying governments the world has seen. The evil Chinese Communists.

It was just a bone thrown out there my friend. I presumed most gathered caught it, seems (except yourself). China is and has been quite capable of committing atrocities in many different ways, that was my point. Its always a good thing to be skeptical of Chinas intentions. I'm mean, they were the ones who have continually covered up the extent of the pandemic in their own country. And allowed people from China infected to fly to other countries and infect those countries. All, in the name of hiding info that would have helped the whole world.
Just to be sure you understand what I think is real. The "real" is more in line with the news story headline I posted. Real world facts Coronavirus deaths are primarily old people. SO they have an unforeseen remedy from their virus. Its killing their old people.

Zovs, the only truth I know is they ruthlessly fought (and defeated, hopefully) Covid-19, saving their own people in the process. Not too bad. End of story.

No one has defeated this virus any more than anyone has defeated the common cold. [;)]
Hopefully some day that will be true. Since the Chinese have had it in their country since December it would be reasonable to assume they would come up with the vaccine first.

You have a really hard time detecting sarcasm. Someone with your superior intelligence should be able to see it. I guess I assumed too much.
I don't know who Stat whatever is and I don't give a FF about Irish politics, don't care for politicians and have no idea nor care anything about Scotland. Furthermore you mentioned my Irish avatar and now you go off down some fantasy road spouting some disjointed nonsense.
Have a nice life. (That was sarcasm)

Yes, that's right.
I mean, had they not fought the virus, and let's say with a 5% mortality rate (= collapsed healthcare system, as we are seeing everywhere) = circa 60 million dead only in China.
The numbers are obviously cooked (again, as everywhere, creative accounting or outright lies for reasons of prestige; perhaps we need a x3 or x5 or x10 to calculate the real number of victims), but it's still a victory if we think they could have lost 60 million people. Perspective. A victory in my book [;)]

They obviously took the right measures by eliminating the ability for people to come into contact. Given the lack of any immunity it was probably the only way to fight it. Otherwise, as you said, millions would have died.

The figures I have for Ireland are 12547 cases and 444 deaths. No recoveries. That's from the ECDC.
I'm open to credible evidence to the contrary, but no one has sourced any yet.
And no one's credentials are evidence of anything.
