fulcrum28 wrote: Thu May 05, 2022 10:03 am For the game version x.25 I installed and used a bit. Very nice looking, (perhaps a bit too pale so the snow can not be distinguished too much) but the worse is that sometimes when clicking on cities, the cities info and name does not appear on the upper right field. Maybe some small bug due to the frequent updates.
Thank you for you're feedback.
I did not yet experience what you describe about the city-info so i'm not sure if I understand what you mean.

I attach the screenshot. In this field, the city name appears when we click on the city map. However, at least in the GC, the city name does not show up always, only sometimes.

Strange,
I don't seem to have this problem with the mod installed on my current save, on the latest betaversion.
And I can't think of any reason why the mod would cause this bug either.

What you could try out is putting back the original w_hextext.dat file and see if that fixes things, but then you will get the original colors etc.
This file is located in the installocation: dat\gendata

Overkill, how do you edit the hexart file? Looks like it's not just a text file. IDK if there's any documentation on that anywhere?

The art-files are .tga files, these can be edited with a photo-editing software, like photoshop.
I used Corel Paintshop pro.
Another free one is Gimp.

Thanks, I know that part but I meant the hexart.dat file specifically. Do you know what the purpose of that file is?

Ah off course my apologies,
you can convert these files to .CSV so you can edit them with Excel or Libre Office.
To do this:
- From the game menu, go to the editor and load generic data.
- Then go to the tab "CSV".
- Here you can select wich .dat file you want to covert.
- Click export and then go find the CSV file in the gamedirectory \DAT\CSV I believe it is.
- To Import the CSV-file back into the game you just put the the edited file back into the CSV map and import it as you from the same menu in game. But remember to save all the changes ingame, from the main menu in the editor.

Hope that helps

I continue to use this map and think it's great. I just really would like to see a version where the swamps were green/brown rather than blue. Swamps are full of algae and other green/brown stuff.

Interesting idea, but i'm not sure if brown/green would be ideal in autumn.

Hello overkill01,

Fresh new player here. My first hardcore wargame. Congrats for your superb map. Many thanks. A nice map always motivates me to play a videogame, no matter how steep the learning curve. Is it possible to send you a beer through Paypal for your hard work? I'm also curious to know if you continue to work on improving the map (eg. rivers as you mentioned in a previous message)?

Thank you, I'm glad you like it.
I do not expect any return for making the mod, but I do like a good Belgian beer :) . .
For now I am not working on the mod, but someday I might come back to it. I did experiment with some riverart I made, but I never really found a solution that works.

Enjoy the game !

Beer sent. J'ai autrefois habité à Armentières et je traversais la frontière pour aller acheter des fricadelles en Belgique

PS: by security you should now edit your post to remove your email address.

Rail bridge near Kherson over the Dnieper river as it's shown in War in the East 2 map was built in the 1950's. There wasn't direct rail connection between Kherson and Crimea during WW2.

Is there or will the be an update to this excellent map map?

There seems to be some issues with the latest version just released.

See all the light odd green graphic splashes? How would you eliminate them?

Hi Zovs,

Indeed, old art shows up when installing the latest update because the hexart.dat file get's overwriten by the original one when installing an update.
To fix this you can just re-install the mod and it should be okay again.

Looks like maybe they changed a bunch of graphics and yours is out of date since the update?

And...

Or something else is off/wrong with the mod compared to the latests.

Seems like your mod is not the only one with issues, this is the Rainy Day mod, it also has some issues.
