Terraformables
Colonies (F4) should have a filter where I can filter out those colonies that:
- do not have the maximum Terraforming Improovement
- do not have the Terraforming building for the maximum Improovement already present

Somehow the ukeep of ships should consume ressources. They should consumed from any storage globally and if there is no resource the price if that ressource should increase and there fore the upkeep cost.
All colonies should also consume strategic ressources. Replace the 50% development from population with development from strategic ressources. Like each strategic ressource gives 1% development.
Increase max development growth from 155 to atleast 250.
Make all resources more rare. Remove asteroids from the game to prevent steel etc. to become over abundant.
Make luxury ressources more concentrated. Some corners of the galaxy have all the areas marble, while the other corner has the bifurian silk. .
Add ammunition. Ammunition should be consumed when fighting. Replenishing it should require ressources. Add a supply ship that bring fresh ammunition.
Make the construction/upkeep of troops/buildings cost ressources.

Color Code Internal Components with the same colors used in the Research Screen.
So they are easier to distinguish in the list.

I've been thinking this, but ideally an option for either/or would be nice, can see how both systems could have an appeal depending on what sort of game setup you want. Having enticing worlds in nebulas right next to you that can never be colonized is a particularly frustrating side effect of fixed range.
Related suggestion: If you have for instance a Defence Pact, Military Refuelling, Exploration, Mining Rights and a Migration Treaty with another empire, it really feels like it wouldn't be unrealistic for there to be an option for founding colonies based on distance from their colonies. Like research trading, it could be an option on game setup and would mitigate some of the more unfortunate situations you might find yourself in with a fixed colonize distance and bad luck with planet generation.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't see before that Artophwar already suggested almost the exact same thing. I'll leave my post up just because the screenshot might be a helpful point of reference for this suggestion, and also why my first suggestion was border outlines.

Border outlines and more colours for other empires. If not a colour-blind option, then at least add changing empire colours to the game editor. Why I want this can be summed up with the following screenshot, my colony is the bottom right, the others are another empire's:

I would like to have a Expansion Status between "not even a spaceport" and "2-4 Colonies".
You know, like having a spaceport. Maybe spaceport + Home Systems mining stations.

the ability to rename anything in my sphere of influence, without the need to colonize first., Planets, Systems, Asteroids
also the ability of basic 21st Century astronomy.
meaning the ability to name unexplored systems, and click into them, seeing the basic information .. type of sun, approximate size and number of planets.
since it is a single player game ( for now ) , nobody else cares how systems are named.
if multiplayer happens, the option to renamy unexplored systems could be turned of.

Zoom Out from cursor would be nice, since the middle of the screen is often NOT the middle of my sight.
All mechanics in game behave as if we would have a clear sight on the galaxy, but there is seldom a clear sight on that.

Military > Dangerous locations > Proximity
When you select a fleet, station, etc., sort them accordingly and not always by proximity to your home planet.

I would prefer a way to controll the Automatic Explorers.
Stuff like "scan your own territory with survey before netural and other empires".
Note that the displayed Exploration levels are wrong. They only show the last Exploration level something happened, not the actuall level of Exploration.

Damage Indicator in Fleet
Currently ships with any Hull and Component Damage are marked Red in the Fleet list.
The thing is that not all damage is equal. A lot of damage can be healed by the average Damage Controll system and passive healing rate.
Please only mark those types of damage as Orange. Leave red for stuff the basic Damage control can not repair.

For me it is irrelevant. I do not like multiplayer for such games, who will play them with me
And just as a side note about queued orders.
It does not have to work with holding right-click or ctrl+right-click.
It would be ok if we could use shift to to this.
Total Annihilation was able to do this, hey, we have 20 years later, come on!

Let us change the Ship Type while editing.
Why do I have to create a completely new ship or base, just because I want to use the bigger hull ?
