It's still T13 round 1 and this is some of my losses so far. I've still got 31K+ Rifle Squads on hand and I'm making 560 of them each turn. I do believe however that I'm losing at least that many rifle squads each turn. So the strength of my units may dwindle slowly.

It's still T13 round 1 and I've been moving units and I've come to the 27th Cav Division and there was this HQ unit and three regiments to be railed from Moscow where they where they were resting so I embarked them all and started the journey and there were so many Axis airstrikes that only the HQ unit arrived at the destination. Willie's INT missions are wickedly effective. And when I end my turn there are at least a dozen Axis airstrikes to ensue.

It's still T13 round 1 and I've been moving even more units and this is an overhead view of me trying to get an MLR built to slow down the Axis advance. It's not in the best terrain to build a front line [it's in clear terrain] so I don't expect it to last very long. The more I think about it I might ought to pull everybody back to better terrain features. Blowing the bridges as I move of course.

THE BATTLE FOR KIEV The Germans have already forced the defenders back a hex of two whilst their spearheads trundle further eastwards!!!

It's still T14 round 1 and I've been building my MLR and it's getting bigger but still has problems. The Germans haven't arrived at my MLR yet but will soon be there and then the fun will begin. I've got boat-loads of reinforcements arriving each turn but they are cherry red and need rest before I can use them and the problem is that I need to use them quickly. Willie usually outflanks my MLR and that makes it hard to withdraw them and form a new MLR somewhere further east. My losses are climbing steadily.

ARMY GROUP CENTRE As you can see the remnants of Larrys MLR line are well and truly kaput, no escape for the defenders of Vietbsk now!

THE KIEV CAULDRON Army group south has a hard time taking this city but it is almost done Von Rundstedt is happy for now at the progress of his army group

ARMY GROUP CENTRE Smolensk has fallen onwards to Moscow!!!!

Battle in the Ukraine Kiev has also succumb to the mighty German Army

It's now T15 round 1 and Willie has advanced to my main MLR and while I was inspecting the enemy units I was delighted to discover that Willie's units are tired. All of them are. And for the last two turns Willie's advance has stalled in several places. So I'm hoping that I can finally stop his advance entirely in several places. Each turn I've been bombarding the German units with my arty to give Willie a pause but I almost never attack his units with mine because I'm trying to save my units if possible.

It's now T16 round 1 and Willie has defeated my defenders and will soon be into the peninsula leading to Sevastopol. He did this way sooner than I was anticipating. He seems to be playing his best game ever.

Larry - I'd like to see a stratosphere shot of the north but I think you're stemming the rush. At least you're out of July. Worst month to play the Soviets ever.

So um..........hey you guys: I have good news and bad news. It's been at least a week since I've heard from Willie.
I hope he's okie dokie. That's the bad news. I think I remember him telling me that he would be going on holiday for at least a week....that might account for the lapse. That's the good news. I'll keep you all in the loop.

Hi all holidays are over now back to the east

Here is a small view of an area in the south well into the soviet rear guards Larry has been doing well so far but the Wehrmacht will begin to attack his front lines soon?

Willie has forced his way through all my defenders further north and is now banging on the door to the peninsula. Sevastopol has no defenders to speak of and this small group is all that is holding back the enemy units. They aren't going to be able very long even though I've parked a lot of arty to support this spot. I've got some naval units that can support as well but I'm pretty sure Willie will dispatch them shortly.

It's now T17 round 1 and Willie has started piling up his units against my MLR to the east of Kiev and will soon force a hole somewhere and roll up my front lines and destroy my valient defenders. I'm not hoping that's what will happen, it's what I expect to happen. Willie is one of the best players I've ever had the pleasure of playing against. I'm learning a lot from watching how he does things.

OUR FINNISH ALLIES The Finnish army is not huge by any means and is only able to mount a few attacks here and there, however they will eventually give those Russian defenders at Leningrad a taste of lead when they arrive.

ARMY GROUP NORTH Army group north is having a hard time assaulting the defences towards Leningrad, there infantary is tied up but now free to join the main assault.
