The long air battle for Timor

As mentioned above there has been a lot of fighting in the air over Timor in the month of July. We are up to July 14 and this started in earnest on or about the 1st of July.
The Japanese have 3 air bases in range of Timor and the Allies have 3 bases on the Island. Koepang is a 4, Dili is a 2 and Lautern is a 4 as of July 11 or 12. In addition both side have big bases that are in long range bombing distance of the 6 frontline airfields.

The Japanese have been launching regular airstrikes to shut down Koepang but have not been able to pull it off. On July 11 (the day of this map) Combat looked like this:
Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 33
Ki-43-Ib Oscar x 12
Ki-48 Lily x 51
Allied aircraft
F4F-3 Wildcat x 4
F4F-4 Wildcat x 9
Kittyhawk I x 7
Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 4 destroyed
Ki-43-Ib Oscar: 10 destroyed
Ki-48 Lily: 2 destroyed, 6 damaged
Allied aircraft losses
F4F-3 Wildcat: 4 destroyed
F4F-4 Wildcat: 21 destroyed, 3 damaged

On the 14th it looked like this:

F4F-3 Wildcat x 3
F4F-4 Wildcat x 2
Hurricane II x 6
Kittyhawk I x 4
P-40E Warhawk x 12

Blackwatch has been able to reduce the strike capability of Keopang but not shut down the cap. I have been sending merchant shipping carrying "stuff" which does get damaged from time to time but the early war massacres are over.
We both have surface TFs in the area, Blackwatch is guarding Maumere against the Royal Navy and the RN is lurking and looking for opportunity. Mostly this is keeping us both honest, if one of us tries a bombardment attack but gets a night battle his damaged ships will get clobbered by air the next morning. This is a nice example of the combined arms feature of the game working I think.
Since I can't post more than one picture I am adding the stats in a second post.
