We have some now. The fighters were somewhere else for the moment providing LRCAP when Mogami attacked. That area's been fairly quiet, with nothing much for him to hit there--well, he could bomb the troops I suppose, but that attrits medium bombers fast, not a good deal for the Japanese.

Anyway, the lack of CAP that turn was an oversight.

But the Japanese still must be using an old Chinese compass. I seem to recall that early Chinese compasses had the arrow head on the "wrong end" of the pointer ! Either that or all of ours do !!!
