Good news folks. We're signing off today.[:)]

We have to now upload a full build to Matrix. They are still to finish off the mods to the Intro Movie ( something about Marc being busy - who would have thought [;)] ) and package the Installer. They hope to have it ready next week. Stay tuned.

No ctd's so far! I have paid good money to get all the beta testers in meetings for the next several days, so no more testing, no more bugs found.. as Spandau Ballet once said.. 'gold' And there we have it gentlemen.. CotA for all our enjoyment and edification is about to be downloaded upon us.. painfully realistic delay will once again be something we enjoy ingame, rather than a reference to the sync bug holding up release.. three cheers for Panther Games and all the beta testers and three (at least) big beers for me waiting for when I first load her up!

My life is "painfully realistic".

Congratz on what is sure to be a job well done. Calling my credit card company as I write, to beg for a credit line increase ;-D

One problem with being a global project team coordinating through the Internet is that when it is time for a party (and now is certainly that time), there is no way to gather together and get smashed.

Of course, I know this won't bother Eddy and Ray, since they never have any trouble getting all sauced up by themselves anyway.

Actually, I don't (cannot) drink, but I imagine it would be fun to see everyone else staggering around. Oh, well ...

Well if it's any comfort MArk, Joy and I are going out tonight to a nice restaurant and cracking open a bottle of champagne I had set aside many months ago for this occassion. I don't drink that much either but we're both looking forward to this one. [:)]

Congrats gentlemen, from a long time lurker and long time HttR player. This is a sterling example of a development team keeping its fans (aka customers) up to date with all the agonies and achievements of game development. Many could learn from your example.

Wallet open, ready to download.

Why do you think I organized that get-together just over a month back ? That Bulge recce stuff was just a smokescreen for a 3 day heavy duty pre-gold party. At least Marc, Ray and Grouchy thought so [:D]

See what happens when the troops take just a little R&R?
What a terrible job this ... and no pay either.
Mind you we have been able to play COTA for two years now, so it hasn't been ALL downsides. [:'(]

It sure has been fun. Remember how we used to annoy Dave with ridiculous feature requests ? - and he actually took them serious. And the great Imaginary Bug episode in which we pretended to see a bug that wasn't there driving Dave crazy ? And how we scared young Daniel Punch so much he actually fixed the UI the way *we* wanted it ? And the time Mark compared us to the Muppetshow's Waldorf and Statler ? - complete nonsense of course because we're *much* worse. [:D]

lol, so what you're saying is: this could really have been released a year ago, if we weren't having so much fun winding Dave up [:-]

You do realize a developer has to be slightly insane to want to make a living programming wargames. Ray and me just made sure Dave stayed at that happy level of insanity so he could make this wargame gem for all of you to enjoy.

Guess which of the ploys described above actually happened and which were made-up by me [:D]

Does anyone really make a living programming niche wargames? (serious question here)

Oh dear Critical.
You think it's fun winding Dave up?
In fact keeping his mind active is a very important social service . We call it Care in the Community and that's much more important than getting a silly old game out on time.
As you can see therefor, all the waiting by you guys has contributed to Dave's welfare. He would thank you himself but nurse hasn't given him his tea yet, so he's a bit stressed. Ahh.
Ray

Serious here : you mean as a fulltime job with nothing on the side ?

- The 2By3Games guys (Gary Grigsby, Keith Brors, ...)
- Norm Koger
- Frank Hunter ?
.. ??
