As we move north in the PI elements of the IJN are spotted and the 2 elite CAG in Java are dispatched to hunt them down. Easy work you might think.

Russia winter 44
44 arrives with the Germans trying to create a buffer zone between the Russians as they retreat into Poland. Supply still an issue, we cant move enough units in to be comfortable but we push forwards with the units that can.

Air units are moved in to threaten Japan.
Notice the 0's on the transports in the area, I'm finding it difficult at present transport levels to get enough operational supply to the area and still reinforce the newly retaken territories. More transports are ordered this turn and should reach 60 by the spring.

With the next build put out for testing I'll close out this game here. It looks to be on pace for the win but not before some struggle to get the Wallies onto the beaches of Western Europe. With Spain joining the Axis and the German AI defending it well I was unable to get at the Italians at all and that would've helped Germany hold out a little better but with the US starting to get all those bombers, inf and arty across the ocean the Germans wouldn't of made it to 46 I think.
The Japanese campaign into China allowed easy access for the Wallies to return to the P. I. and pressure the Japanese early but as it turns out their lack of aggression was an AI issue thats been addressed in this new build so thats good.
What I did find that even being able to get there easily I was still up against too much suppresion to attack into the heart of the Japanese defenses. And I'll leave you with this teaser as I close out this AAR.
Here is a screen of fighters trying to strike the CAGs in the yellow sea (notice the yellow 3 as the fighters draw suppression from Japanese controlled territory. Also notice the CAGs are missing on the CV SE of the Philippinens and there was 3 there last turn only one remains [&:]. Also notice the Japanese bomber that was stationed on the island east is missing too.

As it turns out the Japanese CAG and bomber unit went kamikaze on us last turn. [8D]
I had to go to the replay to find out why I lost two carriers and then I remembered that starting in 44 the Japanese have the ability to turn air units into kamikazes. They ignore Air attack and are destroyed whether they hit the target or not after battle. Take a look at the pop up battle results.
All in all great fun playing this scenario, in the early war against Germany I was starting to get worried I was going to get overrun in Russia and actually had butterflies on a few turns as the AI played out its turn and I watched as it moved its units around checking odds. The same goes for the sub war, even putting as much as I could into ASW it took some considerable amount of game turns to get the upper hand there.
Ah well, its off to download teh new build and continue testing. I hope you enjoyed the AAR.
Tim.
