I got my @ss handed to me.....in detail. [:(]

Hmmm... it does look like pretty much every Allied capital ship or cruiser except Boise got tagged. Haruna and Kongo shouldn't be all that potent, but you have to watch out for those IJN 8-inch cruisers.

Actually, it was a bit of the opposite. Seems he beat me with one BC tied behind his back, since the Haruna barely fired a shot. The CA were pretty quiet as well. It was a battle between my entire fleet, minus 5-6 DDs versus his BC and DDs. I lost.

Before, when I said that Faber was kicking my butt left, right and center I was still half kidding, since the DEI is something I expected, if not that fast. How, however, I'm not kidding at all. I had sent all of the damaged PH ships to the west coast for repair in one big TF thinking it was safe. I had had convoys moving safely back and forth for almost a month now. Now, out of nowhere, the PH BBs get slammed by the entire KB. [X(] I dont expect any of them to survive, even if they were able to get away. I havent seen the replay yet, but he still seems to be at extreme range since the Kates bombed.

I'll have to be honest here. I did not expect this in aa million years, although perhaps I should have. Live and learn.

Unfortunately, brave men often have to pay for the stupidity of their commanders with their lives, Thread rest their souls. <salute>

PS...given the gravity of the situation, the evacuation of Australia will commence immediately.

1) 12/21-Japanese forces in the strength of one transport TF and one SC TF are spotted moving roughly east. Their destination is assumed to be Palembang. A force containing CVL Zuiho and at least one BB is located to the north.

2) Force Z, reinforced by a Dutch cruiser force, the USS Houston, Marblehead, Boise and USN DDs is ordered to Palembang.

3) 12/22-Ariving off Palembang during the night, FZ does not find enemy. At daybreak, it is attacked by naval strikes from Zuiho and LB Nells from Kuching. Both POW and Repulse suffer close torpedo runs, but the fish, apparently, run too deep. Some internaal damage and buckled hull plates are suffered by both ships, but damage is not deemed serious. Japanese force is located heading towards Jambi. FZ is ordered to intercept.

4) 12/23-Ariving off Jambi slightly past midnight, FZ surprises a Japanese force of 2 BCs, 2 CAs and a division of DDs with CL lead. FZ crosses the Japanese T not once but twice, but luck is not with the Allies.

While the BCs and CAs maneuver to present their broadside to the Allied line, Japanese DDs charge the Allies to deliver a torpedo attack. The Japanese DDs are devastated by Allied fire, leaving virtually all of them damaged and sinking. In exchange, java is struck by 2 torpedoes and Danae by one. Java capsizes.

Kongo opens accurate fire at POW. The first two salvoes straddle the British BB, and the next 3 connect. A heavy shell penetrates deep into the ship causing a catastrophic magazine explosion. POW slows to a dead stop and sinks stern first in the next 15 minutes, all guns still blazing.

Most allied ships are also hit to various extent, Houson and DeRuyter taking the worst punishment. Aside from the DDs, the Japanese line remains largely untouched aside from a few sporatic hits from the CLs and Repulse.

With most of its ships damaged and burning, and with no chance to penetrate the Japanese wall to the transports, FZ retires under fire.

As daylight breaks, FZ is hit by a succession of attacks by LB Nells from Kuching. Dragon, Danae, DeRuyter and Tromp are hit with torpedoes, suffering heavy damage.

Ouch...

So much for Kongo and Haruna not being potent. A 14-inch gun is a 14-inch gun, and it has the potential to kill any ship, up to and including the Yamato.

Heah. Damn thin-skinned buggers.

As a rather pretty good naval officer once said "There's something wrong with our bloody ships today".

It is said that the Japanese had devised an evil plan to camouflage troopships into icebergs to launch a sneak invasion of the SRA, but the Dutch uncovered the plot at the last minute.......[8|]

Adm. Yammamoto.....commander SAG 7.....allowed his T to be crossed in the Battle of Jambi....and was being lined up to command a garbage scow.....but thanks to the accurate gunfire from Kongo....he is being hailed as a hero....so his head will stay on his shoulders for a few more weeks.......The Capt. of Haruna.............who's main battery did not fire during either of the engagements......is being re-assigned...........to the bottom of the Pac. O............I think the next captain will make sure he opens fire....

Hope theyre sucking on those limes instead of smiling too much. Only 2-3 years before I have enough stuff to wipe those smiles off their mugs. [:@]
