when i got engaged to be married, my parents gave me three rules,

rule one. Do what you are told.
if it is important enough for your life partner to tell you to do it. do it.

rule two. do not upset people you go to sleep around.
i married a world class cook. she knows how to sharpen knives and can butcher.

rule three. you will get caught.
asked dad "doing what?" he says " does not matter,do not do anything you do not want found out."

has only worked for 33 years for me. when i have been married a long time i will let ya'll know how it works out.

I don't know if annulment counts. I had what I was told was the shortest marriage in Colorado history 35 years ago (LONG story). And the I royally screwed the pooch...

I got married again

I got married again

ah, i have a co worker with three ex-wives.
every one of them short brunettes with green eyes.
similar personalities too.

it makes me question "cause and effect" as reality.

Yes, from this statement we can conclude that failed marriages are caused by:

1. women with green eyes, or
2. women with brown hair, or
3. women who are short, or
4. co-workers, or
5. rms1pa [;)]

Grandma used to advise granddaughter to marry a soldier - like she did - since soldiers have learned to keep order (making their own bed, washing and mending their clothes etc.), to prepare their own meals - and to obey orders.

Grandpa chimed in saying that grandma is right and added that in fact only soldiers should be allowed to get married - since only they have acquired the necessary survival skills...

On occasion of the golden wedding anniversary, grandpa was asked what has been the happiest period of his marriage.
Answer : "The six years as a POW of the Vietcong".

Ok, I'm under 50 and married to my first wife - so I'll get off your lawn and back to the whippersnapper thread...

Now that's classic. I have a joke that's similar, but too long to put here. Ah, maybe not. I'll think about it and maybe post tomorrow.

I never thought that I would be one of those "Get Off My Lawn!!" geezers, but my neighbor keeps backing his oversized pickup truck onto my lawn. I am debating whether I should yell at him of just install punji sticks...

Go with option B. You get to enjoy the moment, and it's HIS blood pressure that goes through the roof from yelling [;)]

Put a "For Sale" sign on his truck the next time it's parked in the wrong spot.

Or you could rewire his brake lights someplace exciting....like the gas tank.

He's not parking it on my lawn, he is backing onto and off the lawn when pulling into his driveway (we live in a tiny, narrow cul-de-sac with three houses). Now I am not much of a lawn maintainer or lover, but here in the PNW heavy pickup trucks tend to turn grass into mud...
