But, unfortunatly, as this update doesn't address the windows update bug, I (and a lot of others people) can't launch it (I tried just now).

Yeah, I've emailed a few people asking about it but no luck in working around it.

As rjord1 noted in post 1039 of this thread, the 2004 update creates a backup. It should be possible to roll back that Windows update. It seems like Microsoft used some people as random beta testers since the 2004 update is not being pushed anymore. If I was affect3ed by that update I would try to roll it back.

Windows will not recover to a previous version after 10 days unfortunately.

It's a bummer but it is what it is.

Finally made it work on a computer without the last windows update.

Only issue I had was using Das Chrome interface with it (following the installation steps provided on the Das Chrome mod page). When clicking on some menu (like ship design menu), I got some error. But I can play without Das Chrome even if it's less user friendly.

I can get to a stage where the Bacon mod is actually running in task manager in windows 10 2004 constantly using cpu and memory...... however it is only running in the background and never shows on screen. In the old days I could use task manager to switch to software running in the background..... if I recall it was an option called maximize. That however seems to have been removedfrom windows.

If we can maximize the view of an application running in the background then we can possibly get baconmod working in windows 2004.

Unfortunately Distant Worlds Universe is listed in Taskmanager as a background process and not as an app. So when I expand the process this is what I getas shown below.

As DistantWorlds "bacon mod" was showing in the background and not as an app, I went into settings/background apps to turn off background processing for DWU..... unfortunately, it is not in the list of apps whose background processing can be turned on or off. Even turning off background processing for all apps did not help as DWU Bacon mod still runs in the background.

I used to use "Process Explorer" back in the day as a better alternative to task manager. Maybe someone will have some luck with that.

I'm at a wits end and I must give up.

Now it no longer runs as a background process either (who knows).

Roger do you have an old version of bacon.exe. Maybe something changed something? If so process of elimination?

I confirm, I have errors messages when opening the Design menu and the Construction order (where you can order ships construction) menu.

Can someone, who has a working Bacon + Das Chrone game, give me the way to use Das Chrome with Bacon. Just to be sure the problem is not coming from me (which is possible...)

Might have already been requested but would it be possible to have some kind of "hoarding" feature to bases?

I know I can manually set reoccurring trading trips using the mod. Would be nice if I could say I want a base to constantly have a supply of x amount of resource(s), and dynamically call of goods when it's falling short. For a deep space refuel and repair station or similar. [;)]

Uploaded the complete error. If it can help...

From the error text it seems to be an image issue (if translate halfway worked).

Exactly how did you install? Did you follow the das/retreat/bacon install guide without the retreatui mod?

I would start over and reinstall.

I only installed Bacon mod, not RetreatUE. Is it mandatory to have a Das Chrome UI working ?
For my current installation, I have bacon mod working and I just selected Das Chrome as my Theme.

You do not need Das Chrome to use Bacon mod.

I run the combined mod. If you don't want RetreatUE then you probably need to look closly at Das Chrome and see if it is making reference to a picture that is in RetreateUE but not in the basic game.

Does the error message let you continue or does it crash?

The game continue but I can't open the menu I wanted.

But that's ok, I finally made the famous trio Bacon+RetreatEU+DasChrome works so, that's all I need !
Going to discover the changes granted. Hope it enhances the adventure ^^
