So what is your Japanese opponent trying to do to stop the relentless push up to Manila and beyond? What does he have left at this point on land, sea and air? Can you show the latest Intel report stats on damage, kills, sunk ships etc?

They are definitely putting up a stiffer defense the further North we go.

After Darwin fell, they had quite a defensive line built up from Southern Java to Flores to Timor to Ambon to Sorong but there were quite a few existing small airfields that were unguarded. That was a weakness. We just bypassed their major bases after damaging the airfield with the heavies from Darwin. When we attacked Dobo they responded with 1 1/2 divisions and did take the island back...so we went around. Sorong cosnumed the equivalent of a whole division but did fall on the first attack. Manado was a serious obstacle but has just fallen. It was supposed to be the major naval logistical base so we had to use Ternate instead.

Not knowing at first where we were going, they heavily reinforced Hollandia and Palau. I am pretty sure they have worked out that Luzon is the target.

Clark has 9K troops. Manila 13K (I think a recon regt just arrived after landing in SE Luzon). There are 100+ bombers at Clark and 30 at Manila. There will be more on Formosa I expect. They built up the airfield at Baybay (now wrecked) and stopped us at Taytay for now.

As for BB's the only one we have seen in action recently is Haruna. Yamato was sunk in the fight for Darwin and Musashi was beat up pretty badly by Washington. Both sides had heavy BB losses at Port Hedrland and New Caledonia.

As for carriers, there are 4 decks of some type in the taffy NW of Luzon.

IJN BB's sunk. I think the list is pretty good but I never trust report on Nagato becasue we have sunk her at least 3 times.

Musashi was clobbered by Washington, not sunk but in dry dock somewhere.

I would wonder about:

1. Conversion of Chitose, Chiyoda and the other CS to CVL. The conversion will take 11 months, IIRC, so I wouldn't expect those 4xCVLs before mid-late Fall 1943.

2. Accelerated Unryu class CVs may be coming online soon-depending on how much he backed their acceleration. I'd expect 1-2 before the end of the year.

Otherwise, the Arries have done a pretty nice attritional job on the Japanese OOB in this war. [:)]

Wow, you basically annihilated his navy already. That's most of his BB's and CV's. Whatever flight decks he has left aren't going to last much longer-- he should almost send them on raids in isolated areas or behind PH or something.

I noticed most of the units you described in preparation for amphibious landings are battalions, regiments etc. Where are the big heavy divisions? Are you prepping for Formosa? Chinese coast? etc etc

Fascinating game to see Allies roll up this early...

We have no unrestricted (and unified) US divisions other than 32nd ID rebuilding at Port Hedland. 32nd ID only has 115 assault points right now. At one point she was down to to ZERO infantry squads, a dozen heavy weapon squads and some arty and suppot. The fight for Port Hedland was a true epic and went on for months. We would have been forced to retreat half a dozen times had we an escape route. Instead the Allied force stood up to numerous 3 or 4 to 1 assaults.

The compnent units of 37th ID just took Manado but need a few fragments to arrive before they can reform into a division.

Americal division got caught up in the fight for Noumea and Fiji and was beat up. They were deployed regiment by regiment in the exigency.

And the Aussie divisions? The USMC divisions?

6th and 7th Oz Divs are in Madras, loading onto transports en route to Ramree Island. 18th UK Div is with them.

2nd UK Div was at Port Hedrand too, not sure what the Cap has done with them yet.
