I am just not sure why CW made a full naval move when aligning Yugoslavia, and could have used some land moves ^^ but that's just me.
It gives time to Axis to react to new and sudden threats.

Tricky decision. I wanted to extricate the Trans and get naval forces in place to battle the Italians (plus get the usual escorts out). A Combined move wouldn't have given me enough naval moves.

The Trans comes in for sustained gunnery but manages to stay afloat (for now).

Where to place the Italian damage?

Italian fleet is getting thin...

D to CL Attendolo and BB Giulio Cesare

Searches Axis 6, Allies 7.

Italian ships abort to La Spezia. CW Damaged CA and Trans go to Gib. Aborted sub goes to Sardinia.

The French add a CA to the East Med 4-box.

The US sail a Trans to pick up McArthur from Pearl and another Trans with A Garr leaves San Francisco, heading towards Pearl.

3 areas for naval combat although CW will decline Cape Verde.

In the East Med, searches of Allied 4 and Axis 7 draw a blank.

In the Italian Coast, the battle continues as the Allies roll a 1 to the Axis 9.

Allies use their 6 points to maximise damage. Where do the Italians wish to place the hits? Do they stay or abort?

This impulse may cost Italians more than they can produce in a year...

The first X to CL Cadorna. If she survives, then another X too. Otherwise second X to CL Bari.

Aborts in order CL Bari, CA Eugenio, BB Conte Di Cavour.

Just to make sure, Bari is carrying the Inf div. 2nd X to Bari?

Yeah, time to do some difficult decisions...

Italian losses.

Italians stay

The Italian response. Fight or flight? RN fights.

We fight, to the end!

And the end is near...

But with a sting in the tail. Searches Allied 9, Axis 2. Axis has 9 surprise points to spend. If not used to avoid, both sides are currently D, 2A. How do the Axis wish to play it?

I use 4 points to reduce Axis damage to A.

I use 2 points to increase Allied damage to 2D A.

I use 3 points to choose target. First D to BB Renown.

On a 6, the Italian BB survives the abort.

The Renown takes serious damage and limps away.

Carry on?

Rolls of Allies 5, Axis 7 bring the battle to an end. CW ships abort to Gib, Italians to La Spezia.

I presume the Italians will want a bash in Cape Verde?
