Japs bomb my bases in northern Burma. Koniu loses several Helens for not much gain.

Jap sub sinks an xAKL. Zeros and Tojos sweep the base. We get a 2:1 KD ratio. I am happy with this. I am rotating the damaged Marine squadron out for a Navy one. I only lost 1 pilot, Koniu had to of lost a bunch in this raid. 26 Zeros and 3 Tojo IIc's. Have to say I do like the como pattern on the Tojos.

Japs shock across the river on the yellow road heading to Lanchow. They wipe out a Chinese unit and are ready to force a retreat to the other units in the hex. These units will stand and fight. I am working on getting more units to Lanchow.

Seems pretty close to what I have been hearing lately. I was under the assumption about 500 fighters per month were the norm. But it turns out about 2000 is! [X(] Pretty shocked at the numbers. Don´t think the allies ever get close to that! Even in 45-46.
Imagine if you were able to produce 2000 planes of your choice! Per MONTH! I get a tenth of that in decent frames P47(56), P38(50), SpitVII(40), Corsair(78)).
Yet I dominate the airspace. Actually pretty shocked about that given the numbers! This is were PDU ON comes back and haunt the Jap player. I just upgraded my last combat active P40 squadron to something .. useful! [:D]

So I am wondering how the P47D2 stands up againist Tojo IIc's and the other toop Jap fighters in mid 43? My Corsairs didn't do very well in their first sweep. I think it was due to low exp. They had good air and def skills but exp was in the 50s and 60s. I am working on imporving their exp. I now have 2 Corsairs (F4U 1) with great pilots. I have one with all pilots exp above 73 and air 70 + and def 68+.
I have a lot of good pilots but Koniu is stacking AFs with 100 plus fighters. I can't bust his CAP just yet, or I don't think I can. Maybe someone can enlighten me.

The P47 is going to rip anything he can put up in the air to shreds! [:)] Just make sure you use your top notch pilots. P47s are precious so you don´t want to waste them on green pilots. All my P47 squadrons have over 80 EXP pilots. By now you should have a lot of very experienced army pilots? Put them up high and watch the carnage! [8D]
The Corsair has been fantastic for me in my game. It has no problem dealing with the Tojo! I love it. Its the first fighter that are really superior to Japanese fighters. Same thing applies here as you already figured out. Get the best pilots in them! [:)]
My opponent (obvert) have done the same thing as Koniu and bunched up all his fighters on two AFs (Rangoon and Rabaul) with some 500 Fighters on each. You can either just let them sit there since they won´t do anything while confined to one AF or you can close it. Closing a 100 CAP airfield can be tricky where you are at in time.
Do you really need to bust his CAP? Can you sweep the perimeter instead getting leaky CAP and/or confine him even more? Or simply let them be there? If they are there they can´t be anywhere else. Once you get Corsairs in more numbers dealing with his CAP won´t be a problem. Sweep, sweep and sweep. Get some of the 28 plane VRF squadrons that arrive on the CVEs and put on land and use for sweeps. The biggest drawback as the allies are the small squadrons sizes. Only the Navy get good sized squadrons (36) while the Japanese seems to have a lot of bigger units.

Joc: Thanks for the info. I want to bust open a couple of holes in his lines and he has a lot of CAP above spots that I want to bomb. I also want to start attriting his AC. I don't want him to have a large pool of Kamis. I have sweep for leakers and got one.

I am planning an offensive here. Map posted below.
The star represents one of the avenues of attack. I am planning on bringing in an almost full Chinese corp and a half of one to this location. With it will be 2 small tank units of Humber I's and Marmon H's, half strengthed Indian Div, and a Brit BDE that will be leaving soon. Total AV will be around 1500. I am thinking of making them cross the river intot he planes hex between Magwee and Shwebo. I expect to lose atleast 1/3 of the AV in the attack across the river, depending on what Koniu puts on the other side. I will also have bettter units positioned to move in after the initial shock attack.
I will watch the AV and make sure that I don't surpass the 1/3d AV rule when my units cross the river.
I can also move more units close to the river below Magwee. Ramree Island has an ID guarding it. I have units prepping for it but they aren't strong enough to kick this unit out.
What do you guys think.

Ramree Islands helps with supply so you might want to try and grab that! Then again I´m not really sure its needed but it could be helpful during Monsoon! You can walk to it so no need to wait for prep! [:)]

We lose 12 P 40Ks, 7 P39s, 3 Spit Vc's, and 2 Corsairs for 28 Zero's, 19 Tojos, 5 Nells, 5 Helens, and 4 Jills. I am thinking of running a cruiser TF to Shortlands to bombard the AF. Georges and Tojos were stationed their. I just don't have enough AC to provide CAP for everything. I'm hoping that morale is low and he will hold off from attacking for a day or so. I only see 50 bombers in the area now.
