So back on topic: What are the recipes of the Civil War Era?

Start with a pinch of botulism,throw in a tad of lead poisoning,half a cup of diptheria and you could enjoy the after effects of an authentic civil war era camp meal.[:'(]

Seriously though i watched one show where they showed how the average soldier would have went about making his coffee.From grinding the beans to brewing it.Looked like alot of work for a cup of joe.

Well, I went to Budapest but I was on my own... Wonderfull city but the trip was very much less entertaining. [:D]
Anyway, I always thought Goulash was a type of meal you could find (with many variations in sauce and spelling) in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hongry. Did not know it was a hungrian meal as such. I will go to bed slightly less idiot tonight. [:)]

Noix de Saint-Jacques au vinaigre de St-Jacques
Peel and mince the shallots, gently brown them in a pan with some olive oil. Deglaze with raspberry vinegar. Cook the scallops in olive oil. When half done, add chives on one side and basil on the other one. Add the shallots. Just before the end of the cooking, deglaze with raspberry vinegar. Simmer the sauce to reduce it. Place the scallops in a plate, add some sauce.
Recommended drink : Dry White Wine, Bourgogne, Sauvignon Blanc, Chablis (last one being my favourite)

Of course, I never expected to be getting cooking tips on a wargaming site from... gasp... the developers, no less. Next time I see, "We had to delay the game launch because we found a major bug in the... uhh... PBEM system," I will read "I was prefecting my Chocolate Souffle and I haven't even written one line of code."

In any case, I'm very glad to see such a great ACW game from AGEOD and I think ACW fans are frankly blessed to have both this and FOF and the upcoming ACW game from 2by3. Enjoy it while it lasts, folks as I can't remember the last time there was this much ACW goodness all within a year's time. [8D]

I wanted to get FoF after reading some of the AARs,and the specs looked low enough for my PC to handle until i looked at the ram.Wow for a game with such low specs how come it needs so much RAM?

So i'm guessing it wouldn't be able to handle AACW either.I tried the demo for BOA and though it was playable the pointer was jumpy.

How much RAM have you got?

FOF is definitely RAM-hungry, it just has a LOT that it needs to load into memory. However, it does have a low memory mode which turns off a bunch of the animations and special graphics, but is still quite playable with 512MB. If you have less than that, have you considered an upgrade? RAM is relatively cheap and if your system has a free memory slot or two, you could probably get a very nice upgrade in overall system performance for < $50.

.I should really just get a new computer,it probably wouldn't be worth upgrading by this point.I just realized its about 4 years old.It needs more Ram,more harddrive memory(apparently 40 gigs doesn't actually stretch that far now)More proccesing speed.

Thats why i liked playing wargames because they didn't seem as intensive on their requirements,but i guess that is changing.

Yeah, that is a very tight system as far as memory these days. Well, if it has a free memory slot, you could probably get a 512MB module in there and frankly that would be your best bang for the buck upgrade for overall system performance. I agree that you should probably get a new system, but if you only have $50 to spend now a memory upgrade would definitely give it some extra life.

If nothing else, definitely get a memory upgrade. 256 megs is not enough nowadays...

Well one nice thing is i at least meet the minimum specs to get the UFO game that(hopefully)is coming out.

Sterotype indeed, like other western coutries French people are now always in the rush, they do not take the necessary time to feed properly and have weight problems. Moreover, the tradition of nice cooking is loosing itself as the baby boomers was always after "modern" things. They did not learn traditional cooking recipes from their parents and are enable to teach them to their children.
Now sure, there must be variations. I've been living in London for two years (and enjoyed very much having beers with my British friends) and I would not say that British and French are culturally alike. My scottish friends initiated me to Whisky, and I taught them about wine. More to the point, I was amazed to see how much london workers have given up the lunch break... To have a nice lunch with friends seemed completly unknown to them. My god, I could never have a lunch in a "Pret à manger" or what they call "coffee" in a Starbuck. But that must be me! [:)]

I first began BoA beta testing with 256 Mo RAM [;)]. Go into the main folder of the demo and click and AGE setting. Check "Hardware cursor". Then back in the game and have a look in the options (BoA main menu) and tweak the memory set up. This should make things better.

Not all of us are RICH like Erik and Keith and Marc .(I mean I don't get to run off to every wargamers&nbsp;convention in the&nbsp;WORLD lol)&nbsp;;) Or some of the rest of you who'd spend your last dime on a game or hardware before feeding your family. lol Notice I bolded SOME so don't get all uppity unless you FIT into that catagory of gamers eh? You hang in their Maliki and well if you want to take some advice from the "best" (hehe) just save your money on games and buy some more memory and you'll find the games will be "bargain bin price" in no time at all. haha

Its not a question of expense.It's a question of getting off my dupa and getting a new computer.I should have bought a new CP last year,but i am a procrastinator and also that as long as i could enjoy old favorites,SPWAW,Baldurs Gate series,WitP,the first two Fallouts..there really wasn't a hurry to get a new one.Now i am realising that i may be missing out on some new favorites.BoA,AACW,FoF,Maximum Football(which i can play in sim but not 3D).Hell i bought a 360 when it first came out and i'm sure i could afford a a mid-range new computer

As far as buying bargain bin and used games...I will do it if it is a game that is several years old,or a game that i am really not sure about.If it is a newer release,or from a company i trust to give me quality games..No.I will pay full price.

Why?

Because i know that when i buy new i am supporting that company or developer,and that by my continued support they will keep giving me quality games into the future.When you buy used or bargain bin the money only goes to the store.The Brothersi in Arms series,which is the best squad based tactical combat game out there since X-Com,would have died after the first game if everyone only bought it at $29.99 used and all profits going to..Insert game stores name..instead of to the people that actually make the games we like.And whom rely upon us to buy from them to stay in business.

I wasn't put in this world to make sure everyone else is happy and has a land of plenty. [:D]&nbsp;I also agree there needs to be a profit made but not equality for everyone.
