Hong Kong:
Aus I Corps stalled at Canton. BR X Corps which was enroute to Japan, now diverted
to Canton. Aussies/Kiwis have taken approx. 12k casualties at Canton, so far.

IndoChina:
Forces continue to advance. last objective will be Bangkok.

Here is a shot of Tokyo showing damage done by air attack. Similar results for
other major cities.

Notes on tactics:
The Japs. were sending out light surface forces(DDs) to raid my transports going into Japan. To counter this, I moved CLs and DDs into the area and based them at Kanoya,
Kagoshima, and Nagasaki/Saseabo. When enemy was spotted by my seach planes based
on Okinawa, I would sortie my ships with a reaction range of "1". They proved to be
highly effective. Also brought in dive and torp. bombers from PI and based them at
Kagoshima and Omami. They were also effective.
Heavy bombers based on Formosa have now moved up. Due to range considerations, B-17s are based at Kanoya and Kagoshima. B-24s are at Okinawa.
Once the Jap. air threat had been reduced. I have been loading troops in "strategic" mode.
Troops at PH, Guam and the west coast have now been going direct to Japan. I unload them at Kagoshima and they then use rail movement to get to the front. Very fast and no
fatigue.
Have not used the CVs at all other than to support the initial landing at Kanoya and to raid
Tokyo.
Once a port has been captured by troops attacking overland, I bring the minesweeps in
to clear the port in order to bring in troops/supplies.

Below is a map of Japan. Troops will now move NE, SE, and E on Honshu.
There is one city left on the "small isl". After that is captured, those troops will be released
for Honshu.
The "formula" has been massive, prolonged air bombardment by units on Formosa
and those based on Okinawa and at Kanoya and Kagoshima. All 8th AF B-17s are now
based in Japan. Where possible, bombardment tfs have been used as well.
Massive artillery bombardment has not proven to be effective.
Dive and torp. bombers are causing large scale casualties to Jap. shipping.

I was greatly surprised to see that I only was awarded a marginal victory.
My vp differential was 3.7:1. Perhaps Andy or someone can explain why this was
not a decisive victory.
