I can't believe the EU had no hand in it...they do love to meddle - anyone remember the requirements for a banana??

Wasn't the EU who required this, it was the retail market. Small boxes take less room on vendor shelfs. The big packages are still available though. They call them 'collectors edition' nowadays.

The EU obviously had something to do with it because when they started coming packaged in today's size over here, they were called "EU size DVD-ROM case".

While I have no qualms about standardizing package sizes, everyone has different ideas of the specific size that would be ideal.

I guess the label has something to with an EU norm, but iirc it was no required to sell all games in tiny boxes. Otherwise there wouldn't be collector spin-offs available.

Unfortunately I ditched my whole collection at the turn of millenium, because I thought we would see similiar games with better graphics for the future. There were literally hundreds of titles which went to a second hand vendor or just in the dustbin. I was obviously wrong and thus started to purchase the classics back, bit by bit. The babys below I acquired from same vendor to whom I sold it years ago. Seems Grigsby games are not in high demand here.
