I saw last weekend what I would swear was a Mosquito over Denver Colorado. Twin prop with what looked like the distinctive wing structure. There is an air show this weekend so while my jaw dropped, I thought "Ok within the realm of possibility". But the air show only has the B29. Does anyone know if any of these are in the U.S.? Or do I need to have these tired old eyes checked(again)?

The only flying Mosquito in the entire world is currently based in the U.S. So it's possible that you did see her.

Didnt the Kiwis get one into the air about 12 mths back??
Not sure if it flies regularly.

Same plane I believe. The Mossie was rebuilt in NZ and shipped to Virginia.

We had a visitor this week, it's not a stranger to the BBMF fighter pilots but it's the first time I've seen her at Coningsby.

She's used as an intermediate step for the pilots between the Chipmunk and the Hurricane. This one is civilian owned and usually operates out of Duxford.

PZ865 (with her 'new' exhaust stubs) and the Dak. I like the paint scheme the Hurri is in, but the lack of a Vokes filter is disappointing. I keep mentioning it at work but I don't think they're going for it...

After some fairly major work, our Battle of Britain survivor P7350 is back on her wheels after being up on jacks since October. She might even get flown before the end of the month.

Was at the museum in VA Beach a couple weeks ago, the mosquito was there - and the word from the volunteers is that the owner of the collection has held off the financial bears by taking the insurance off the flying collection - effectively grounding them until he gets some $$. They also just sold a B-17, sorry I missed it, saw one at Duxford a couple years ago but anytime you get the chance....

The giveaway is that the prop hubs on a Mosquito are a bit forward of the nose of the plane. It couldn't have been a firefighter like this, could it?

I think the only problem with the Mosquito being a firefighter is that it's made out of wood.

If things go as planned we're getting a visitor on Monday. The RNLAF historic flight are sending their B-25 over for some flying and it's operating out of Coningsby for the day. And lucky me gets to work with it, I might ask for a cheeky joyride as well [:D]
In the meantime, I've got a bonus quiz. What's this a picture of? And which aeroplane?

It looks like a landing gear bay, though they are usually painted and I don't have a clue which aircraft.
