He is attempting to reinforce his position at Suva, as well as trying to contest my control of New Caledonia. His carriers were covering (in a loose sense of the term) his reinforcements heading for Suva, and now they are headed towards New Caledonia to support more mischief of that sort. My guess is that now that he knows the KB is on the prowl his CV force will run away to the SW while what's left of his Suva reinforce TF attempts to withdraw to the SE.
I also am told that he is building an airfield at Tongatapu. How much you wanna bet those engineers were headed somewhere else originally? My quandary is how long should I wait before taking Tongatapu? Should I wait for him to build me an airfield of level 2, or wait for 3 or 4? Choices, choices.

2/18/42 I thought about splitting the KB sending 4 after his CVs and have 2 cover Suva. I decided against that idea and ordered the KB to close on his CVs last position while remaining in range of Suva. The next morning everyone had fled except that the Salt Lake City didn't get far. The KB put 4 more torpedoes in her and she finally went down. At this time a float plane from one of my subs spotted his 2 CVs at Raoul Island. Hoping he didn't notice (fat chance) I ordered the KB to attempt to sneak up on him.

In the morning the KB spotted and was spotted by his landing fleet which had retreated to Tongatapu
My spotting sub near Raoul Island had to leave in order to refuel, so I no longer know the whereabouts of his CVs

Now an expensive series of air attacks at Singapore. My fighters keep sweeping there after my bombers have already swept his CAP away. [:@] Having spotted some supply ships that were unloading I ordered my bombers to do Naval Attack with Airfield attack for backup, target Singapore.

2/24/42 Yesterday two different cruiser squadrons approached Fiji and were somewhat punished by the KB. Today the following showed up near the Celebes.

2 27 42 I pulled the KB back a bit, but once again Raiden didn't have any search planes available (apparently) so he didn't know where I was. That will be borne out tomorrow. I attacked his forces in Suva with the usual results.
By the way, my reports are that there (at this point) are 4 CVs at Pago Pago.
