Watching China with big interest. Will be very exciting to see if the changes in RA will make China a bit tougher on the Japanese. Cribtop will make no mistakes here I´m sure. I doubt he will repeat his failure to knock China out as he did against Cuttlefish. He seems very methodical and thorough. So he will have done his homework.

Try to get some recon into China. Also consider moving out some of the reserves in the Changsha area to Chungking. That way you will save a month worth of travel time if he goes "all in" for a single sector like Tom did.

Watching China with big interest. Will be very exciting to see if the changes in BTS/RA will make China a bit tougher on the Japanese. Cribtop will make no mistakes here I´m sure. I doubt he will repeat his failure to knock China out as he did against Cuttlefish. He seems very methodical and thorough. So he will have done his homework.

Main changes in China were - forts at bases to 3 if they were lower; dot bases to 2; about 25 to 33% increase in devices to hopefully give the Chinese a little better defensive capabilities; decrease number of damaged industry at Changsha and Chungking to increase supply generation; daily supply at Chungking increased by 50 per day; and carry over from RA was increased garisson requirements for both sides. Hope these help.

IT is our desire to make China a TRUE sideshow that doesn't become the easy rollover that many Allied and Japanese Players have done.

I think the apparent potential China solution is to take away all the VP's you can for conquering objectives and add garrison requirements for empire.
I agree that empire auto victory should not be heavily influenced by China results or strategic bombing.

Aside - I never have thought that strategic bombing should have any VP's associated with it on either side of the ball. You do it to reduce future capacity, but there isn't a game bonus to it.

Great pic, but I find the word "bigger" a bit off-base. The Boise had essentially the same displacement and three more main guns, but fewer 5" guns.
The real advantage of the Clevelands was better layout of the guns and excellent fire control, which Boise got in later upgrades.
Perhaps the word "younger" or "newer" should be used here.

St Louis and Helena the only two members of the St. Louis Class were interesting. I believe the Japanese refered to them as machine gun cruisers for their rate of fire
but that may have been the Brooklyn Class.

Naval Search - I don't use my valuable PBYs and Catalina in any Naval Attack as I feel they are more valuable keeping track of Japan's moves. Right now I have some at Dutch Harbor, Kodiak, Midway, Pearl, Johnson, Christmas, Canton, Vaitupe, Rabaul, Cairns (BF and some troops just left Port Moresby for OZ), Horn Island, Kendari, and Singkawang. Once Ambon falls, I will have a gap in eastern SRA and another in lower Solomons. I'll move the PBYs that were at Port Moresby, but are now back at Cairns to Darwin to close that gap. I need to get some AVPs or a AV with 2 DDs at Luganville.

Christmas Island troops leave San Diego. ETA is 12 days. Reports show they were spotted by Glen.

Fuel - 13 x 14 knot TKs with 3 escorts leaving LA with 141k worth of fuel for NZ. I tend to use San Fran for troops and supply and LA for fuel.

ASW groups - I am training up the small 5 plane bomber groups that will withdraw in June/July '42 along with the FPs taken off the damaged BBs. I just got my fourth 18 plane Kingfisher FP group at LA. Only one has rested to get Morale to 99 and start ASW training. Some of the others will follow. In RA/BTS, I allow these 4 groups to upgrade to SBD-3 and beyond. I have 4 of 7 Wirraway groups doing so in Australia. Plans here are to upgrade some of these to the LR Hudsons later.

To my reader - anything on PBY/Catalina placement or usage you would do differently?? What about ASW training?? I have one of my PBY-5A in USA doing this also.

Yeah, I usually look at standard displacement because so much of the full load is fuel and ammo for all those AA guns, not to mention all the crew needed to fire them.
No arguments at all about the NASTY part of the description! [:D]

Sulu Sea - very nice artwork on both versions! About the Brooklyn class vs Helena/St. Louis - the latter two were considered Brooklyn class with some minor differences that made them a sub-group.
All of the Brooklyns and the Clevelands had the same rate of fire that kept a constant stream of shells heading for the enemy. I saw a video of one of these cruisers firing and the rate of fire for the main guns was every five seconds![X(]
Nashville (AFAIK) was the only cruiser to decide a land battle directly when it shelled a Panzer division which was counterattacking the Salerno landings and was about to overrun the allied troops. Nashville's fire flipped Tiger tanks and wiped out most of the
supporting infantry and half-tracks. No wonder the Germans selected these cruisers for the first few targets of their radio controlled glider bombs.!

Lesson learned !! - I had sent Saratoga TF to Aleutians to intervene at wars beginning. Then, I sent 2 CL with 6 DD from Pearl as soon as KB left. I had ordered Sara to head back towards Pearl three days ago. To compound this error, I had my SC TF stay between Attu and Amchitka. Thus, Cribtop was able to drop off troops at both bases and avoid any consequences. [:(] [:@] I should have left Sara there and placed my SC TF at one of the bases rather than try to react to enemy moves. Now, my SC TF will head back to Kodiak to refuel and then go to Umnak and stay there!!
