Problem is you are tempted to add new features with new bugs. Must. Code. Freeze.

2D thermometers are a neat addition though, so glad Berto was able to squeeze them in! As it happens that screen print don't show they work with stacked hexes as well, ie. with a stack of counters you see each of their thermometers too. Nice indeed!
EDIT: well there was the hex with Commander Jeep and a unit under it showcasing stacked counters. Duh [:'(]

Yeah, that was just a handy screenshot from an ongoing test game. I have other screenshots, but I'm saving them for a future Coder Diary.

Meanwhile, here's a snippet of the "Raid to Libya" with thermos ON.

Same view, but with Standard counters and NATO symbols. Showing Morale instead of APs on thermos.

Here's another snippet of the 2D Normal view with thermometers on. I have downscaled the picture to fit the screen, so everything's some 35% smaller than in real life.
I am playtesting Jason's excellent "121st Battalion" LCG. It is quite a challenge, having an element of Israeli 500th Armored Bde pushing along Suez Canal during Yom Kippur War.
In addition to thermometers, you can view my forward elements being properly ambushed by Egyptian Sagger teams. You won't see them until they hit you... And now I see two of them. Ouch!

Whats going on with full png support for terrain and unit graphics. The 16 years old 32 bit bmp graphics arent really playable.

Well there's the 0 year old 24bit bmp graphics to replace them with! Screenshots are available at the new Middle East forum, see my signature for a link.
For my 0.02, it was not really the bmp that limited the old versions, but the lack of proper new zoom levels. That's now fixed, and we can bring much more detail into play now.
Edit: here's today's version of the 2D Normal View (75%) terrain.

Picnic At Tel Al Ful. 2D Zoom-in View (100%), Alt counters, 2D Unit Icons ON (instead of NATO icons), thermometers ON.
Still subject to change, we've got a week or two before the hands-off hour. There's been a lot of work going on with terrain, as you can observe if you compare to pictures above from June timeframe.

And to compare notes; here's the starting point of our efforts: what was the 2D Normal view, and what now is the 2D Zoom-Out View (50%), from East Front:
