Wow, I'm sorry to hear Peter is still hurting. We didn't know the extent of his health issues so taking a break
from TotH is totally understandable. Please accept my occasional bitching and understand I'm still a big fan
of TotH as it is now. Peter, get well soon. [;)]

First I hope Peter is OK? Don't mean to sound selfish but will ye be adding features like winter weather, etc.? Thanks.

Peter,

This is really good news as your recovery! Life is something so precious that it sometimes reminds us how
essential it is to resist the pressures of today's life ... Our loved ones and good health are the real
treasures on Earth. Even if the TotH Community doesn't have millions and millions of followers, the Game
now lives its own life. Soon more than six hundred scenarios. What an accomplishment!

With my best regards and all my best wishes,

It looks like the development of Tigers on the Hunt has ended. You can kind of tell when a game has fizzled out when posts are hardly ever made on it in the forums any more.
I really appreciate the efforts by the creator, Mr. Peter Fisla, to make this very good game. Its about the closest to ASL for the computer I have seen. I wonder if Mr. Fisla would consider
selling the source code to a third party to continue its development and make it even more like or perhaps even the definitive "ASL computer " game.
I have played several of the scenarios in the game and some of the user made ones based on old Squad Leader, Cross of Iron, Crescendo of Doom and the ASL modules such as
Beyond Valor and Yanks , some of them played very well, some of them were disappointing because many rules were missing , Nationalities and rules for them such as the Finns and French,
also some weapons missing , like molotovs, we don't have snipers, ski units and rules for them. Heroes? I know G.I. Anvil of Victory had them and maybe ASL too. I have not seen a Russian unit go "berserk " status. Maybe that is in the game already but i have not seen it. Also there do not seem the be air units, Stukas, P-47's, Sturmoviks, Typhoons etc. However, it is not lost on me that Mr. Fisla has provided a significant portion of ASL-like rules,
he has clearly given us the foundation of ASL for the computer and one could even say Tigers on the Hunt is a fine computer variant of the ASL starter kits.

Thank you lilian for your kind words and wishes! Life has sometimes funny way re-arranging priorities...regardless if we want it or not.

Hi kenade,

I have never considered selling the source code to TotH, it was never about money for me. I did it because I have passion for tactical wargames. Getting the official license would be an expensive endeavor...never mind legal one as well.

Cheers,

Peter

Peter,

Again, thank you for this fantastic game! And whatever your health issue is, I sincerely hope you heal, and that you spend more years with your family and friends, and of course—that you play hours more of TotH!

Also, please know that there are many of us who would love to see more of this game. And, although you don’t do it for money, I’d bet MMP would look at your game. Maybe collaborate?

Anyway. Be well, brother. Get well!

The sincere answer is, I don't know what the future holds. Though I have to say, I'm quite surprised the following that TotH created. I didn't see this coming...

Peter, I am glad to hear you are feeling better. Time with family and friends is important, ToTH is secondary. As such, I would like to thank you for creating ToTH, I have totally enjoyed playing this game! I started playing Squad Leader back in the late '70's with my father. Many great times were had. Having your version has renewed my war gaming hobby interest! No matter which direction ToTH goes, it will be my number one game of choice!

Glad that you´re better Peter.
Tigers on the Hunt is a legend and among my favourite wargames! TOTH2 with more rules would be a dream come true.

Peter,

Here is to your health. I totally get your need to heal and recover.

Last year at 0800 am on August 20th (2023) on the way to church I had a massive heart attack, they called it the "widowmaker", I did not know it at the time but I had a 13% chance of survival that day. But God spared my life and spared my wife from becoming an early widow at 51 (I just turned 58, so to those folks out there that think this only happens to much older folks please take heed), they put in two stents and were about to put in the third when I thought I fell asleep, and they had to shock me to bring me back. God has been so good to me in my healing process, the Docs put me on a no sodium, low sugar, low fat, and Mediterranean diet, and about 12 weeks after the episode I started cardio therapy. I graduated that in January and been going to the gym three times a week and have now lost 70+ pounds and have never felt better.

I have also restarted two of my favorite hobbies in earnest this year, blues/jazz guitar playing and ASL (Advanced Squad Leader) the board wargame.

Just for kicks someone posted something nasty about this game which I did not agree with or remember and I reinstalled TOH plus all the extensions and patches and proved they were wrong.

Anyway here's to your health and recovery.

PS I have been play testing Jorgen's SASL Red Factories project for ASL (I have a blog post about it if your interested but PM/DM me so as to keep things here on track).

Sending you blessings and peace.

Hi Don,

We don't really know how much time we have in this world, so we might as well enjoy it; I though I strongly now believe in good health and love. If you don't have a good health, nothing else is important and I also strongly believe in love because, if my wife would not have been at home when it happened to me I wouldn't be here. It was her that called the ambulance, I'm now making sure that she has a good life, she is my guarding angel; my princess ;)

I'm also enjoying playing ASL as well. Jorgen and I, we have been playing VotG SASL campaign using VASL since 2010 and still going strong. I'm truly proud to have him as a great friend since 2006, we have been playing SASL stuff since then. We went to see him and his wife to Sweden last year for a few days, we had a blast. My wife and I were in Europe, Slovakia for about 3 weeks, my grandpa had a big 98 bday celebrations, so it was a short flight to Sweden 8-)

I'm looking forward to ASL HASL Kursk - Ponyri as well as Historical rulebook pdf release later on this year, already have ASL pdf rulebook and it's great. I'm also looking forward to SASL 3rd edition release, hopefully sometime next year. After that I think I'm done, I have all I need from ASL perspective for another 300 years ;)

Cheers,

Peter

Peter,

Your so spot on. We never know how much time each of is given, and the most important relationship is with those closest to us.

Like you, I handed the keys to the truck to my wife that fateful day and told her I could not drive, as soon as we hit the off ramp I was in really bad shape, she was a brave courageous trooper and sped to get me to the ER (she was a 25 year employee at FedEX and the driver instructor so it really went against her grain to break the law and speed but this was an emergency), she was was with me until I had to have the stents put in. She took care of me when I was released from ICU six days later and this episode really drew us both closer together and more importantly closer to God.

Like you and Jorgen, I have several SASL CG going on and I have about 6 VASL PBEM matches going on as well. SASL is really awesome and Jorgen has done a fantastic job with the RF stuff.

I think it would be so cool if some day I could 3-4 folks playing a SASL CG as a battalion lol, that would be a hoot. I missed the GSASL days by a fair margin.

Stay healthy and in love my friend.

Don

Hi Don,

Me and my wife were close before my accident 5 year ago; that episode of mine got us closer... never mind the damn Covid came soon after, that got even closer. I was thinking to myself" what else?!"

Jorgen and I, we both love SASL. I enjoy having a sense of feeling of being there in a historical situation.

Same to you Don, stay healthy and in love.

Cheers,

Peter
