***Now I have to figure out what to do with the Russian in my Game with Dinglir. There are an awful lot of PZ/Moto division in one area and is making me extremely nervous

Turn 3

I can say that the Alt Combat is making combat for me extremely easy by taking out all the guesswork you would have without it. Take for instance this PZ division in the picture (which is at 82% TOE by the way. I know it is 68 CV no if ands or buts about it. Easy to do the odds on hasty attacks with that info. I'm just saying. So It is making my attacks more deadly since I can pretty much know what is going to succeed about 98% of the time now. But lets continue.

Interesting no one caught the hidden meaning behind the picture yet. Will see if someone does soon enough. It was a hint to something that happened.

I have no clue about hidden meanings .. but do consider what commander you are up against. If a unit passes leadership checks on the defense I understand the CV can double. Thus a surprise “held” when you thought you had a sure win. The alt CV assumes no enemy passed leadership checks.

Will be interested to see what M60 does.

I Already know he will stay close. His defense looks almost exactly like it did in the previous game. I LOVE it when the Soviets come out to play

Turn 4

Soviets retreat in the Center. I was wrong in my thinking that they would stay. (Gave a 60% to stay, 40% to retreat) The Soviet new line is from Velikie Luki using the woods and swamp as cover along with the river line to Smolensk. Here is the Snapshot of what I'm facing. Currently, Panzers needed a rest since I normally give them Turn 3(and sometimes turn 4) as a Rest before the coming offense. I see pro's and con's to M60's line in front of me but I will leave it to a quote by Napoleon, "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake". Again it is just my opinion it is a mistake but the line looks eerily similar to the one I faced before. Of course I could be just wrong about the line & it is great. Time will tell to see which one of us is correct.

It was a reference that this PZ Division was commanded by Guderian. Guderian & Model are my offset to Zhukov. Put the right leaders behind those two and hopefully tip the scales towards the Germans.

M60's defense seems a bit thin between the Dnepr and Mezha rivers. I could envision a panzer corps charging through there if they have the fuel to support it. I guess we will find out soon enough

Turn 4 The Finns come out to "Play"

Finland entered the War with a loaded Soviet front. For a bit, I thought that more units were added to the Finish front in the recent patch. Just like a great many units were added in the German backfield I thought the same thing happened on the Finish Front of what I saw on the Soviet line. I had to verify that running through a couple of games to see if it was. It wasn't. So M60 brought these units up to reinforce the lines. Very nice move!!!! BUT the unfortunate side effect, for the Soviets that is, was that this released ALL Finish Divisions.

This was a great opportunity. Finns have excellent leaders, CHECK. Finns have excellent experienced units, CHECK. Finns are well rested & ready to go, CHECK. Finns have targets of opportunities, CHECK! So Finns decide that time for the offense is now. Not often do the Soviets come out to play, lets go play

I ABSOLUTELY HATE these units!!!



7! Yes, seven attacks & two bombardments for 9 total attacks on these little f'rs and they would not budge. This has made me kick the cat. Need my division east and these two f'rs(became 3 when the NE hex retreated here) are holding up Divisions. I need to be to the east now. I knew I should have just left this to the Rumanians like I used to do . Lesson learned the hard way yet again.

You can do the comparison between the games. In this snapshot is our game from a year ago. The setup looks the same on M60's side. But maybe it is just me. Does history repeat? (By the way the game turn is turn 4 in our current game. You are reading this real time. And Yes I know I am letting M60 read this. I don't know if he does or not but it is all good just the same)

RR in the North going as planned. Will have a redundant link between the two rails next turn. Don't want an incident like Stef had against Stelteck in his AAR. I would not like it to be at the gates of Moscow to be held up by some crazy Partisans. So two rail lines is the way to do it imo. (7 hex conversion on the south leg as mentioned on the previous RR post earlier in this AAR)

Turn 4 (real-time in-game turn)

No airfield bombing yet. M60 flew only two Recon missions and that was against my Airbases in the Center. I lost a fighter to the darn Recon planes, I mean how lucky can you get?(I'm blaming it on the Recon plane shooting it down, but I bet my Flak did on accident) I sure M60 took note of the amount of AA that greeted his recon planes as he reconned the area only twice. AA ~188-252.

Sitting here after sending my turn back on my other game to my Axis opponent I have contemplated that I really do prefer playing the German side more. Always have "loved" the quality side of the equation in everything I do. WITE is no different.

Turn 5 (real game turn, no delay)

The game lull of turns 2 through 4 are over. Turn 5 is the probe & thrust to see how M60 reacts. Turns 6-10 is what I consider the GOLDEN turns since this is where the Germans set themselves up for the rest of the game. But make no mistake about it, I play to win the game as quickly as possible and many know that from playing me. I will see if I can achieve the 41 auto victory since the Sudden death scenario was taken out with Bitter End campaign game.

Priorities this turn

#1 = Soviet units, surround and/or exterminate.

The Soviets retreat again putting another buffer of hexes in front of us.
