Once I have been in similar situation, got lured into the open and Betties basically wiped out both battalions.

All that you need is a relatively trashed infantry unit there. It can even be airlifted in. It would be a distraction. Do many distractions on the same turn and he won't know what is a feint or a real operation.

I couldn't capture it on the 1st try, as the troop level was higher than expected... faulty recon

hopefully next turn and now with the full party (before it was just tanks and marines). In any case, these troops are doomed

I think the key to avoid getting bombed to oblivion is to bring lots of troops so that the damage gets dispersed

these is the battle and the air strikes

Be careful Jorge....this may end early at the rate this is shaping up with Allied establishing a solid position at Palembang and conducting offensive operations in the PI while the KB is merely burning fuel roaming the south Pacific not contributing much to the strategic picture.....your opponent is digging a big hole early.

Too bad your counterpart doesn't have an AAR going...would love to hear his thoughts. I just don't see a plan right now....you have him reacting to your moves is not a good sign for the Japanese cause in Jan 42!

I asked him to write an AAR.. would definitively help because people will jump to the opportunity to correct flawed assumptions;
but it is of course his decision

I also think the game won't last too long, assuming of course serious damage to Japan's oil end grounding the IJN

I hope it doesn't, or at least that I don't end ghosted for a 3rd time; we will see. But in any case, I am happy with this game; I mean how often can you build a fortress palembang? and I really like the early allied game, where everything is on a shoestring, and the kind of decisions that you have to make in that scenario. Things like fighting a night battle at Kuching against Japanese cruisers, just to cover an evacuation of coastal guns needed in Palembang, is what I like the most about this early war period

Jan19.42 the Battle of Lingayen, will be remembered and celebrated in Filipino history books as a show of defiance against overwhelming odds.

I don't have transports airplanes to do that; I already moved out of Luzon all air units, except for a few Philippine units that refuse to fly. We will see if they survive, one of them run away, disorganized, to Lingayen, I hope at least one should survive and reform

Personally, I would have moved the ARDs south towards Perth, then continue along the southern coast towards Adelaide. Darwin is forward and vulnerable.
