Very exciting AAR! I wonder if you can hold on to the end. It appears there are a lot of Italian units in Greece. Is that the navy or can they be redeployed?

Regia Marina I'd guess. Am surprised that the Allies didn't try any Med adventures, tho in the end they really didn't need to.

That is definable the Regia Marina hiding from Allied bombers. Med adventures are about a 75% chance so it's not a calculated defense.. I had rather if they did try and spread there forces around a bit. Having the entire Western Allied force come down at once in France was too much to fight back this time.

The Western Allies launch a successful offensive into Germany from the Low Countries, crippling our defense and have also completely cut off a German Tank Army in the process.

In Eastern Germany the Wehrmacht once again tries to establish a defensive front near Konigsberg to slow the Soviet advance.

Germany establishes a new defensive front near Hamburg with considerable Tanks which are still available to protect the nation against the Allied advance.

As Germany reinforced the homeland against the approaching Western Allied threat, it comes at the cost of Army Group South which could not reinforce or adequately counter attack the Red Army in Besserabria. The only alternative was to retreat into Romania.

Does Germany take any sort of NM hit from the Allied use of the A-bomb on Japan (along the lines of "uh oh, even if we hold off that's not good."

Not unless it’s already baked in from the vanilla game, I have not put that in but an interesting point.

Germany's defense along the Westwall along the French border has nearly been completely destroyed opening up the vulnerable southern sector of Germany. The Western Allies are also poised to strike hard in Northern Germany after massing a sizable Armoured force.

In Italy, American forces have crossed the French border. Italy's days in the war are numbered, there will be no relief from Germany.

The Red Army continues their two main offensives towards Konigsberg and into Romania. Our defensive force near Konigsberg is patch work at best, while what was once a mighty Army Group that held Ukraine for over a year is slowly diminishing after multiple retreats into Romanian territory. The Luftwaffe which has lost any capability to contribute to the war will mostly be disbanded in a last ditch attempt to reinforce the Wehrmacht with additional forces to prolong the war.

The defense of Eastern German territory has entirely collapsed, the path to Munich one of the 3 cities that the Axis can hold to win the game in May 1947 by drawing out the war long enough to find some terms of peace will soon be lost. The other cities are Berlin and Rome, so realistically only holding Berlin is our objective.

With a number of small units now available to reinforce the Western front after disbanding the Luftwaffe, Germany has decided to retreat to our final defensive positions against the Western Allies who are winning the race to Berlin. This will hopefully allow some time to reinforce and entrench.

The sheer numerical might of the Red Army is very evident now, as our defense of Konigsberg appears doomed. Meanwhile the Soviets are prepared to advance from Southern USSR into Poland and Hungary, while once again forcing the form Army Group South to retreat towards Bucharest in Romania. Uprisings are beginning everywhere, at turn end we overall Admiral Horthy in Hungary to keep the nation from possibly switching sides.

Konigsberg has fallen to the Red Army, but Germany has warded off the first limited offensive against Warsaw.

In the West the Allies begin their assault along our extended defensive front near Hamburg. The Italian front has entirely collapsed at this point. The garrisons in Yugoslavia and Greece will soon surrender and lead to additional uprisings.

In Western Germany our defensive positions hold as weather begins to turn, in former Polish territory Germany makes due with what they can to form a defensive front as the Red Army advances from every direction. In Romania our defense has been shattered, we are only try to slow the advance into the Balkans now for the valuable MPP.

Good job with the fighting withdrawal. Holding Berlin until May 1947 seems ... ambitious.

Yes very ambitious, but it is the only out I have after extending the game. If I had not Germany would have also won on December 31, 1945 by lasting that long but that is hardly an accomplishment vs the AI I think.

Great job. This AAR, despite its doom-laden tone, is a welcome respite from worse news in real life. I think this will be among the very few AARs on any WW2 Strategy game that allowed the game to go this far along the road to defeat, and the only one I can remember against the AI.

The war continues through Christmas 1945. The Allies advance comfortably on our defensive positions from both the West and East but offensive maneuvers are limited in the snow.

Warsaw and Hamburg are both under assault.

This is another interesting date to point out as this is second date that the Axis could have won the game by simply surviving this long. This of course is more meant for PBEM in tight matches. Berlin will have to hold much longer if I can squeak out the final victory lap.

This would be Italy's final turn of the war, their Army completely shattered now. The remaining German garrisons in the Middle East were sent to Rome and Brindisi the previous turn with hope of Germany taking control of some Italian cities for MPP. Both the Balkans and Greece are set for major uprisings with the surrender of the Italian garrisons.

The Finnish stubbornly holds out, mainly a result of the Soviets being stopped dead in their tracks in the South. The Soviets continue to find alternative success driving Southward from Murmansk.
