AUGUST 29, 1941

9 MS and an escort sunk.

Libya is still calm.

North to Central Russia Before.

The last two Russian armour present tempting targets and I have a fresh paratrooper (off map) in range to cut retreat.

Centre to South Russia.

North After.

Leningrad should fall next turn.

Centre After

1 armour and an army destroyed and another surrounded.

South After

SEPTEMBER 12, 1941

0 MS sunk and I take 2 U-Boat hits.

In Libya the British launch an attack on my Mechanized. But this leaves them weak for a counter attack. The plan is to attack the British Mechanized SE of my Mechanized to cause it to retreat. This will leave the Corps SE of Tobruk no place to retreat.

But that British Mechanized was a stubborn foe and refused to retreat even at 6:1 odds. It finally retreated at 11:1 odds. The Infantry Corps was dispatched and I had enough OPs for one final attack on the Mechanized. Surely it would shatter this time; but no, even at 14:1 odds it retreats again. Give all those men medals.

Unfortunately, I stupidly forgot to take any After screenshots of Russia. Suffice to say that Leningrad fell and the surrounded armour was destroyed. Otherwise, the Russians retreated just about everywhere and I chased them.

SEPTEMBER 26, 1941

My stupidity last turn of forgetting to take Russian screenshots was nothing compared to my stupidity this turn. I opened the turn to discover that the Russians had made a further large retreat. This time they even evacuated Moscow which was sitting open with no Russian units near. However, I was late for work so didn't have time to take my turn (other than chasing the Russian Fleet). So I saved the game. Except I didn't "save" the game, I ended my turn. Now hitting the "End Turn" button by mistake rather than the "Save" button my be excusable; but following that up by Confirming" the end of the turn is not. Of course, as soon as I "confirmed" I realized my error, but by then it was too late.

Oh well, other than chasing the Russians there wasn't much I planned on doing anyway.

OCTOBER 10, 1941

The Gods were with me; after my screwup last turn they saw fit to give me clear weather in the Arctic zone. So I was able to occupy Moscow after all.
