Many of the events have changed since release, and it appears the changes have not made it into the living manual. The only way to know for sure what they are, is to load the scenario into the editor, and view the events. In the old editor, click on the "Game Event Editor" text at the center top, then scroll down until you get to the events in red (around event 140). Then you can see what the current values are by clicking on the event in the list on the right. If someone can put a list together of changes from the manual, we can get it into the living manual. We expect to be doing an update of the living manual with the next update. One thing to note is that in general the events in the manual are the 41 campaign events, and the events in the other campaigns can vary. The only way to know what you're using is to check the editor values when you start the game. We're not looking to change any of these kind of event values in the future, so now's a good time to at least get the 41 campaign values updated.

I went through the Game Event Editor and found the following values:

15 December 1941 - 150 AP
15 April 1942 - 150 AP
1 May 1942 - 150,000 men added
15 June 1942 - 100 AP
1 September 1942 - 450,000 men added (date change from 15 September)
15 September 1942 - 100 AP
15 October 1942 - 100 AP

I think I've caught up to the notes left here and I've added them to the living manual for when the next update goes out later this summer. If you have any additional notes for the living manual, please continue to post them here. Thanks.

28.6.1 claims fuel factories are excempted from being destroyed. They are not.
HI was supposed to stay but it seems to be removed upon Axis capture (Odessa) but not upon soviet capture (latewar soviet offensive) according to my AI/AI saves

28.6.2 - example with aircraft fac should be changed to airframe fac

I looked further into the Editor and found one more change to the Soviet AP section:

The event "Soviets Reorg Continues" on 15 June 1943 has been changed from what is printed in the manual. The manual says "Soviets gain 300 AP", but the Event Notes now says 100 AP. Please make this additional change to the Living Manual.

Having just installed the 01.04.00 beta update I checked the living manual and it still living manual 1.25 (patch 01.03.11)

Is this still the most current living manual? If not where can I find the most current version?

Thanks in advance,

Scott

Must have been an error upon distributing the Beta, we had an 1.26 manual prepared for the 1.04 Beta

Is 1.26 posted somewhere so I can just download it directly?

Sorry, it does appear to be missing from the update. We'll get it included in the next installer. I've attached the latest file. Thanks for letting us know it was missing.

I have seen that the change made to the troop and cargo ships in patch 1.04.00 remains to be included in the Living manual 1.26. Specifically in section 28.2.7 (Naval production), which is not updated.

I've also made the corrections suggested by Dennis. The Soviet Reorg AP amount is already corrected in the v1.26 version of the living manual. Thanks all.

Hi Joel. I'm afraid I have my auditors head on now. A skill I got in my RAF career. Believe me, regulation in the aircraft industry is high. Extremely high.

Regards version numbers of documents. If a single punctuation mark is changed in a document, it changes its version number or amendment state.

In this case, anyone who has the original version 1.26, looking for updates, they will not dl another v1.26.

Therefore I ask you please to dl a new v1.27 as it has changed from 1.26.

Also, (I haven't seen it yet so this could be irrelevant) the version number of a document must be included in the document. A good place would be under the title of the document on the front page.

I have known about you Joel for some 15-20 years in the gaming world. I thank you for your contributions.

A 1.27 version will be released with the official update, which will likely be out next week (which is just the 1.04.00 beta made official). The LM had a few more changes since the last one released.

I scanned the Living Manual but could not find anything on the limitations on the maximum number of units (or man and material) allowed in a hex. Of course I might have missed it, but I was hoping that this version of Gary Grigsby's War in the East would improve on the "rule" in the first version which I believe limited each side to three units no matter the unit sizes. In fact I never purchased the first version because I felt this was an over simplification that this highly detailed simulation should not have made. Has anything been done to bring unit "stacking" in a hex to something more realistic than in the first version?

As a non native english speaker, I would nevertheless assume that inserting "until" would make the sentence clearer or more correct.

For example, the scenario may be set up so that each player will “earn” 1 VP for each 1,000 men lost by the other player, but if the Soviets player has a twenty percent modifier, the Axis will not gain a victory point until the Soviets have lost 5,000 men.

I guess that some better reformulation can be made, but I do not find it.

Stonne

Leader Ratings Check - 15.5.2

"The chance to pass a check is dependent on how a unit reports to the chain of
command. The expectation is that Axis units will report to a Corps HQ and that, after
August 1941, Soviet units will report to an Army HQ. "

Is August correct or is it November when all the Rifle Corps HQs are disbanded?

Note 15.5.3 states

The Soviet structure up to the withdrawal of the Corps HQs in August 1941 is one
where some units might report directly to a corps and others to an army.

Rifle Corps withdraw after November, not August.

Stonne,
Well, hiding in plain sight. Obviously I don't scan documents nearly as well as I used to.

Greatly appreciate your quick response. But I must say that I am not only disappointed that the old "rule" is still in effect, but that I simply don't understand the reason for such an abstract method for establishing the space limitations on men and material in a hex would be used in such a highly detailed military simulation. And I really wanted to invest in this version of the sim. Again, thanks for helping me on this.
