I lost Krutov earlier and now I lose Rokossovsky. So that is my two best Russian generals KIA.

NW Europe. Not much action here except following up the retreating Axis.

AGS.
The Russians are still unable to close the deal.

I played my full turn which took me about 1 1/2 hours. At the end of my turn the Western Front looked like this.

And the Eastern front looked like this.

But when I tried to end my turn I ended up looking at this screen for about 30 Minutes.

So I redid my turn. Western Front. Not much difference except I was also able to capture the hex NW of Turin. With 3 sides on Turin this gave me a good chance of capturing it next turn and finally forcing Italy to surrender.

My units in the bulge are generally not as strong as they were in my first attempt. But I didn't see too much German Armour around, so I wasn't too concerned.

But I was obviously getting too cocky, because this is what awaited me when I opened my next turn. 2 Armour and a Mechanized destroyed, a paratrooper Shattered and several units isolated.
I was, at great cost able, to reestablish supply to the isolated units and even overrun 1 German Armour and shatter a Mechanized. But I suspect that on the Axis turn I will lose at least a few of my units. Regardless the Russians will need to spend at least a couple turns recovering before the offensive in the South can resume. Unfortunately, I forgot to take any screenshots after my moves.

On the Western front the Axis pulled back. They even basically handed me Turin. So I expect savage Italian counter Attacks next turn before they surrender.

In the Netherlands I managed a small breakthrough. I could have done better, but I was careless with my paradrrop. Who would have thought the Rumanian air force would be able to out fly the RAF.
With the Russians struggling, the burden is really on the Western Allies to try and penetrate as far into Germany as possible before the summer ends.

JULY 14, 1944
I was planning on resting my Russian Forces in the South, but the Axis had other plans. With the Axis once again isolating several units I had no choice but to attack to rescue them. It helped that with the Italian surrender the Italian units shown here disappeared.

Final positions in the South. I was surprised that the Italian hexes reverted to British control, i thought they now went to Germany. Maybe because we started under a different version. In any event, I think the Axis will have supply problems here.
