Also should mention that one of the sources used at the beginning of the unit structure development was this one:

If you click around enough you can find pages like this that give numbers of AFV's. Pictured is the Uk 1st Tank Bde.

Let me clarify the question. I don't see this unit report in TOAW IV, where does it come from?

It's probably 3 pieces from the Editor spliced together.

If anyone needs information, there's a decent amount on the Ukraine war by the enforcer on youtube, linked here. I don't know if anyone would want to go and data mine that entire YouTube channel, but you can.

Mainly the livestreams about the War in Ukraine are most on topic. It might be useful for making POs, although you guys seem to mostly know what Russia's early plans in the war were.

Is there a map of Ukraine somewhere that can be downloaded?

Hello man.
AFAIK, every Russian brigade/regiment should have 2 BTGs instead of 3 during the first phase of war. Some may have one (e.g. the 6th Guards Tank Regiment of the 90th Guards TD).

A Russian motor rifle BTG should have 10/13 MBTs, while a tank BTG should have 31.
Pre-war Russian tank compositions can be found here:

Hello Sir,
I agree with what you say and have been putting together information to provide a more detailed TO&E of the Russian units. I have found the schematic below but I cannot read the Russian language so I am not sure what everything is. I do not have such a schematic for the Tank BTG's.
Thank you for the link, I will see how well it runs thru Google Translate.

We also have this suggestion from another forum member [pictured below], but again not one for the Tank BTG.
Also, for some idea of the manpower issues there are several sources, some of which are:
https://www.ausa.org/publications/refle ... n-tactical
The BTG, an old Russian army force structure and personnel workaround, resurfaced in the wake of manning problems in its “permanent readiness” brigades in the early 2010s. In most cases, where an organization chart showed a motorized rifle brigade, only a battalion’s worth of combat power actually existed. Where a division existed on paper, only a handful of combat-capable BTGs materialized.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battalion_tactical_group
BTGs typically compose roughly half of the equipment and personnel of the deployed brigade. The BTG's relative lack of manpower (they deploy with about 200 infantrymen) makes it reliant upon proxy troops and paramilitaries (such as the pro-Russian militias in the Donbass war) to provide security along the flanks and rear. Outside of Russia, the troops of a BTG serve on a volunteer basis. The limited manpower of the BTG makes the commanders less likely to engage in urban combat. As they derive their manpower and equipment primarily through the cannibalization of a larger unit, their sustainability in long-term operations is also in doubt.

Additionally, I enjoyed reading this although I had to utilize a Google Translate version, which can be challenging at times.
Excerpts from Pavel Filatyev:
I remember 1999, the beginning of the war in Chechnya, then, as a teenager, I accompanied my father there to go to war. The battalion (about 500 people) consisted of conscript soldiers aged mainly from 18 to 20 years old. It was a qualitatively and fundamentally different army in 1999. Yes, it was not perfect, it needed order and reforms, but the army of that time was head and shoulders above the one that had been “reformed” over the past 23 years.
In 2022, in the Crimea, the battalion consists of three companies, my Company went to war with about 45 people. Currently, a huge number of contract soldiers refused to go to the war with Ukraine. This also played a role in the failure of the "special operation". I remember that all the two months that I was on the front line, we hoped every day that we would be replaced and allowed to move to the second line to rest, wash, wash, but this never happened, because as it turned out there was no one to change.
Pavel is a former soldier of the Russian Army's paratroopers during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. He published a detailed 141-page memoir on the Russian social media site Vkontakte, which caused a sensation in August 2022.

I have yet to find a schematic for a Tank BTG, but I suppose we could use the above example as a template then double the tanks and halve the infantry.

Interesting that all the internet discussions seem to be about infantry heavy BTGs.
Cheers

Yeah ... I'd like to know from the Russian generals how the Tank Brigades are handled. It seems they contain 93 Tanks in 3 regiments. So if we make 2 Battalion Tactical Groups out of the Brigade, do we put 46 in each of those? Or 31 in each of the 2 while the other 31 stay back in reserve? If the case is they are in reserve, then they would be put in the 'On Hand' I would suppose.
This is a 46 Tank BTG:

I noticed that Ukrainian Tank battalions, had 18 tanks. My question is, if there are only 18 Tanks, then for a Tank Brigade, there are not many tanks in total.
