Matrix did do a poll two years ago asking players what they wanted in the game. The suggestion to prevent accidental disbandment was made (my preference was to move that button to the bottom area of the TF screen). Several players supported the idea. No other responses that I can recall.
Then the 1127 beta came out and a few groused about the Y/N confirmation thing, but nothing too strong. These seemed to be the long time players responding. Now of late, come people new to the game and wanting to know why their wishes haven't been considered. Too late, I'm afraid.

And actrade, I don't think any of the changes that could happen to the .exe now will affect your saved games.

This has been what’s gatekeeping me from really dive into this patch. Can anyone let me know if they decide to fix this patch and release a new version of it, would my saves from 1128B still be compatible? I really don’t want to spend three months on a campaign only to have them release a new patch, where I'd either have to start a new game with that patch or stay stuck on 1128B to keep my progress.

Also, how do you guys really know if it’s too late to remove this Y/N prompt? Unless the dev who’s patching this game tells me it’s really too late, I won’t believe you.

All that you would have to do is to replace the .exe in the game folder that has your existing game . . .

As far as the Y/N prompt, simply ask the developers . . .

Yeah! Time to move on! Forward and no looking back!

Well....maybe just a quick peek back if no one's looking. Oooo!

So you're telling me when a potential new patch comes out, I can just install it in another folder, then copy|paste the .exe file from the newly patched game folder into my current 1128B game folder and I can keep my save?

Yeah, sure. Let me text Andy and Michael to hang out at the mall this weekend so I can ask them about this.

As far as having two .exes go, I think that the better solution would be to have a switch in the preferences much like the computer controlling the submarine ops although being able to change the preference not only in the current game but for each player in a PBEM game as well.
Yours is the better idea, but I see Matrix avoiding screen changes like the plague because it causes cascading headaches. Bigger code change, more testing and documentation changes and not what you want if you’re trying to wrap it up.

I think the grumbling after 11.27 came out was a bit more than you give credit, but really got lost because of being drowned out due to the new map issues. Your preference to move the button would have been the right thing to do but Matrix probably viewed it as too much work when the simpler decision was to just change the input of that confirmation pop up to keyboard.

How many players, old or new, who didn’t stay abreast of that change have come to forum because of their computers having “locked up” or “crashed”?? Only to be told “you need the keyboard”.. How many more times in the future is that going to happen? At the very least the confirmation pop up should have been changed to “Using your keyboard press Y or N”.

This is one of my points as well. New players already have to do a lot of research just to set up the game and start playing. Then they have to figure out how the obscure UI works. Now, they’re forced to get stuck on that Y/N prompt, likely with no idea what to do next. So they’ll have to go and look up on how not to get stuck on that prompt? This just gatekeeps new players from fully enjoying the game without having to constantly look up how basic things work. They need a break.

WITP:AE2 confirmed?

My dream is a successor with exactly the same mechanics but with an improved interface and better automations.

Also a serious question. Do we have to install Update v1.01.26a before the new update?

No. I've been playing fine going straight from fresh installation to 11.28B.

Thank you for your fast reply.

I have seen that you are using Skacee's map mod in your game. Does it still work with the new beta?

It'll work but will be inaccurate in small respects. Some islands have been added, roads and rails moved or deleted, rivers adjusted, a few terrain changes, etc. The details are in the changelog.

Apparently Skacee has been notified by a member here and may upgrade his mod.

I use the Victoriam version and as of right now there are many inaccurate rails. Mainly around China where the rivers are. In 11.26B they would be connected but they are cut off in this patch. And Kyushu to the main island of Japan. I'm sure there are more but I have not noticed them yet. I might use the vanilla map for a more accurate representation of the rails until the man himself update the map tbh.

Edit: Loaded the vanilla map back and never mind, I'd rather have inaccurate railways than looking at the vanilla map lol lol. This is truly the best map mod for WITP AE. Can't wait for the map mod update!

This release works with the stock map. The 'super extended' map that was in a previous beta is no longer being used (some people didn't like it, so the map was changed back to one that would be compatible with the old original map).

I play with the super extended map, so once the beta is finally in its release state, and there are not more changes, I will make the super extended map, and a conversion of the full-map scenarios, available to others.

A change in trackage to east coast?
Surprisingly, that is not a change. That odd rail type has been there since the game was released. As with most of the map bugs reported since this latest beta update was announced, this "bug" (if it is even a bug) has been there all along. In fact this may even be a deliberate design element to slow down the rate or speed of traffic using that rail connection. I can't remember. Given it has been there all along I am reluctant to change this.

I would think that the new final patch would make all the map mods invalid now. Since there was both map and data changes any existing map mods no matter how pretty they are will not be compatible with the latest and final patch.

Is this correct?
There will be some mismatches between this version of the map and map mods made for the original map - some terrain in China (representing the flooded areas), a few new islands, and some cleaning up of unused railway 'stubs'. But apart from those mismatches the map mod would be basically useable.

If you apply the update, then reapply a map mod with matching data files and scenarios, that should work fine.
