I was really surprised by apparent disconnect between limited territorial gains German made and massive losses they inflicted on Soviets during 1941 campaign.
It forced me to rethink how I should approach first 17 turns as Axis.

Yes, of course, the German troops are pressing on.
It’s a very interesting game with Kamil, especially since it has been highly unconventional and instructive right from the start.

We’re currently at turn 52.
I might start posting the German perspective here at some point.
For tactical reasons, though, it’s a bit too early for that right now, as I know things get tougher for the Germans from late 1942 onwards.

In any case, you really develop a rather personal connection to your own troops.

My recovery is on par with Axis strenght increase, so I am really pleased with what I see.

Summer is apporaching rapidly but I am getting more and more confident I will be able to keep retreating in orderly fashion if Germans mount their attacks.

With the rasputitsa negating attack values, you could infiltrate all along the line given the way the German has set up his defence, get some cavalry into his supply lines and cause chaos. Or do you think this a bit gamey?

The German ought to be forced to spread his lines thin, you are doing him a favour there. But I suppose he's not building fortifications.

I think he is still stronger than me and as a consequence more offencive stance or direct exchange or blows would favour him. I am planning to gradually increase offensive activity in coming months.

You might be right, but I don't feel confident enough yet.
