Here's a Winter War scenario...
Winter Wolves
GRV Scenario 1
East of Suomussalmi, Finland, January 7, 1940: The Soviet invasion
of Finland was grinding to a halt. Poor planning and the sheer tenacity
of the Finnish defense had produced staggering losses on the Russian
side and minimal gains strategically. In December, Mannerheim, the
Finnish commander organized a series of savage counterattacks all
along the front. The Russians, overwhelmed, strained to escape isolated
pockets rapidly encircled by Finnish advances. Broken and disorganized,
remnants of the 44th Soviet Division fought a desperate winter battle
to break out east and home.
Game Length: 8 turns
For the Russians to win they must escape the Finnish encirclement
For the Finns to win they must prevent the Russians from escaping
Russians: Squads, LMG
Finns: Squads, LMG's
Board: #5
Aftermath: The Soviet army had not been prepared to fight the kind of
war given to them by the Finns. Knowledge of the region, adaptation to
the severe winter conditions and guerilla tactics drove the Russian
invaders back across the border. Some 27,000 Russian casualties ended
the first phase of the Winter War.

Hey LN59, you are making the head swell with your
sentiments. Now I can't even pull up the zipper![:D]
Here's the second scenario for the day...
The Mace (DC1)
On the Chambois-Vimoutiers Road, France, August 20, 1944: Increasingly desperate to
escape the Falaise Pocket, the trapped remnants of the German 7th Army and 5th Panzer
Army found their path blocked by a fortified ridgeline which came to be known as "The
Mace." Isolated behind German lines the Polish 1st Armored Division repelled attack
after attack from their elevated positions, taking hundreds of prisoners and blocking
an enemy breakout. But on the morning of August 20th, the exhausted Poles faced one last
assault. The Mace stood square in the path of the 2nd SS Panzer Division's counter-attack
from outside the pocket - a last ditch effort designed to free their trapped comrades.
Game Length: 8 turns
For the Germans to win they must take the ridge
For the Poles to win they must defend The Mace
Germans: Squads, MMG, LMG's, PSK's, AFV's, OBA
Poles: Squads, MMG, LMG's, PIAT, mtr, AT Gun, AFV's
Boards: #15, #16, #18
Aftermath: A series of furious assaults against The Mace went on throughout the day. But
the Poles held firm, repulsing both armor and infantry, and surviving several withering
artillery bombardments. By 7 PM that evening the last German assault troops had been driven
back from the ridge. The next day, Canadian armor relieved the totally exhausted Poles.
Many of 1st Armour's dead were buried on the Mace where they had fallen, and the Canadians
erected a sign saying simply, "A Polish Battlefield," in honor of their heroic defense of
the ridge.

Easy, easy guys. It's not like I'm making a freakin
sacrifice doing these scenarios because I enjoy doing
them. I pass them on as a way to just say "Hi again".
John, I've never created my own scenario but I'm thinking
about it.
Anyway...
In the Ruins of Ayrapaa Church (FSD1)
Ayrapaa, Finland, July 7, 1944: Ayrapaa, a famous battlefield of the
Winter War, was once again a seen of intense fighting during the
Soviet Summer Offensive of 1944 on the Karelian Isthmus. The hills
south of the river Vuoksi dominated the otherwise flat landscape.
The Finns set up their defense on the southern side even though it
meant the supply lines had to cross the river. The Finnish bridgehead
held for about two weeks before Russians managed to advance to the river
cutting the defenders into two separate pockets. At 2pm on July 7th, after
a bombardment that lasted for half an hour, Russian infantry, supported by
ten assault guns, attacked against the eastern part of the bridgehead. The
attack caused the Finns to retreat across the river except for a small
group of Finns led by Captain Talvitie, who dug in at the ruins of
Ayrapaa church and its vicinity. At 4pm another attack was launched.
Game Length: 7 turns
For the Russians to win they must capture the Finnish bridgehead
For the Finns to win they must hold the bridgehead.
Russians: Squads, MMG, LMG's, AFV's
Finns: Squads, HMG's, AT Gun,
Boards: #7, #18, #32
Aftermath: The attack was more than the green troops of the 25th Battalion
could take. In many places, they ran from their positions without firing a
single shot. The weary veterans of 2nd Battalion were left alone to face
the attack of two Russian battalions. Mostly, the defense was easily
defeated, but the strong point in the ruined church caused trouble for
the attackers. Eventually, the Russians overwhelmed the defenders. As the
Finns were surrendering, their own artillery fired a concentration at them.
The Finns, still in their foxholes, suffered no casualties but Russians
paid a heavy price for their victory.

Here's another short and sweet scenario...
Brecourt Manor v1.2 (HV 1)
Prelude: Brecourt Manor, France, June 6, 1944: The airborne drop into
Normandy left many soldiers alone and isolated. The first priority was
to locate their unit and then attack their objectives. In many cases, no
more than a hand full of soldiers managed to come together and it then
fell upon them to achieve their objectives with what little manpower
they had. One such case was at Brecourt Manor. Lt. Richard Winters and
ten men from E Company of the 506th PIR were charged with destroying a
battery of 105mm guns at Brecourt Manor. Armed with only a light mortar,
two light machineguns, two Tommy guns, and five rifles they had to attack
a fifty-man guard dug in behind hedgerows with trenches and clear fields of
fire.
Game Length: 6 turns
For the Americans to win they must destroy the four 105mm ART guns
For the Germans to win they must defend the artillery
Americans: Squads, mtr
Germans: Squads, LMG's, mtr
Board: #6
Aftermath: Once again the training and leadership of the junior officers
proved to carry the day. Despite being outnumbered five to one and attacking
an entrenched enemy, The Americans prevailed. They did so because of the
tactics they learned in training, plus common sense and courage. At the cost
of four dead, and two wounded, Winters and his men killed fifteen Germans,
wounded many more, took twelve prisoners, and destroyed four 105mm guns.
The Americans had done the job through quickness and flanking attacks. Another
factor in the American victory was the fact that this was their first combat
experience. As Sgt. Carwood Lipton said, he took chances that morning he
would never take again. "But we were so full of fire that day. I was sure I
would not be killed. I felt that if a bullet was headed for me it would be
deflected or I would move."

What is the scenarios marked as DC1-DC4 from?
I think the scenario set in January 1939 with the Russians and Finns is either a typo s/b 1940) or it’s a hypothetical scenario.
As far as I know the Winter War started in November 1939.

Well, I've only uploaded DC1-The Mace and DC3-Last Stand at Marchelepot.
DC2-Red Monsters I wasn't sure I could do but now that I look at it I
can see possibilities but DC4-Satan's Fire is a scenario between the
US Marines versus Japanese which I can't do. I don't know anymore
about the origins of those scenarios if that's what you are asking.
However, the scenario sheets do have the ASL logo and there's the
subtitle "ASL Scenario DC1". It appears to me to be official ASL scenarios.
As for the scenario "Winter Wolves" you must be right. I just wrote
verbatim from the sheet. It does say "Jan 7, 1939" which must be
wrong as you pointed out. The other mistake was mine in thinking the
Winter War proceeded WWII so I didn't think anything of it. I'll
correct that.[:(]

Well, here's another scenario for better or for worst...
The Grainery
Stalingrad, October 31, 1942: While the Germans fought tooth and nail
for the Tractor Works and the Krasny Octyaber factory in the north,
the Romanians were pushing through the southern part of Stalingrad,
where the giant grain silos were. Soviet lines during this period
were stretched to the limit. Zhukov had ordered Chuikov and Brezhney
back across the Volga, and it was feared that the prize on the Don
might fall any day.
Game Length: 8 turns
For the Romanians to win they must capture large building on way to Graineries
For the Russians to win they must deny the buildings from the Romanians
Romanians: Squads, HMG, MMG, LMG's, FT, DC's, AFV's, OBA
Russians: Squads, MMG, LMG's, ATR, MOL-P, AFV
Boards: #20, #21
Aftermath: The Romanians rushed the Grainery complex, intent on succeeding
where the Germans had failed. The Romanians held together with remarkable
coherency, and a Romanian general personally led a bayonet charge. Such a
determined attack sent the hard-pressed Soviets reeling back toward the
Volga, only to beturn around by their Commissars. The Commissars (who were
in the act of withdrawing across the Volga under Stalin's orders), couldn't
stem the tide, however, and the Grainery was taken. There was, by this time,
little grain to be had there, but what there was would certainly be needed
in the months to come.

Here's another scenario from the DC series...
Red Monsters (DC2)
Western Ukraine, Russia, June 1941: In the early days of Operation Barbarossa, the
Germans encountered the best Russian tanks for the first time., as a small group of
T-34's KV-1's counterattack. The appearance of these technically superior Soviet tanks
came as a nasty shock to the Germans, as they saw repeated shots from their standard
37mm Anti-tank guns bounced off the heavy armor of the Russian behemoths. Even the
50mm and 75mm guns of the PzkwIII and IV respectively fared no better., with the panzers
scoring repeated non-penetrating hits. Like seemingly unstoppable metal monsters, the
Soviet tanks rumbled into the German lines.
Game Length: 5 turns
For the Russians to win they must exit 4 tanks through the German lines
For the Germans to win they must stop the Russian tank assault
Russians: AFV's
Germans: Squad, Half-Squads, LMG, AT-gun, INF-gun, AFV's
Board: #16
Aftermath: An anti-tank gun was overrun and crushed as the Soviet tanks rampaged through
German positions. A T-34 threatening an artillery park was only destroyed when it bogged
down in the marshy ground and was hit by a 150mm howitzer firing over open sights. The un-
coordinated and unsupported raid was finally defeated as the weaker German tanks maneuvered
for immobilizing shots and infantry assaulted and destroyed the cripple enemy vehicles in close combat.

Well, too bad for the trees in the forest without
Ents to take care of things...
Panzer Graveyard
Minturno, Italy, January 21, 1944: On November 13, 1943, 1st Comapany
Hermann Goring Parachute-Panzer Regiment had been sent to support the
94th Infantry Division and worked with the 267th Grenadier Regiment
guarding the coast. 7th Company HG Parachute-Panzer Regiment was
supporting the 274th Grenadier Regiment and was engaged near Minturno.
1st Company was given the mission of guarding the Santa-Infante-Minturno
Road. 7th Company tanks were already in the area and its 1st Platoon,
under the command of Lieutenant Lentz, was ordered to move up in support
of the infantry near Minturno cemetery. The Pzkpfw III tanks of the 1st
Platoon and infantry of the Grenadiers successfully repulsed several
attacks. Finally, the order came for the 1st and 7th Companies, along
with the 200th Grenadier Regiment, to counterattack.
Game Length" 5.5 turns
For the Germans to win they must take the town of Minturno
For the British to win they must defend the town
Germans: Squads, HMG, MMG, LMG's, AFV's
British: Squads, HMG, MMG, LMG's, PIAT's, AT Gun, AFV's
Boards: #18, #46
Aftermath: In support of the operation, 1st Platoon was reinforced by four
PzKpfw IV tanks. The MkIII's would provide fire support from positions on
the heights. The attack, intended to capture the hills surrounding the
cemetery and to push further into the town, was launched in 1710 hours.
Feldwebel Lubke wheeled his Panzer IV around the corner of the cemetery
and came face to face with a Sherman, which he knocked out with the first
shot. Meanwhile, Lt. Lentz engaged and destroyed an antitank gun and a
Churchill tank. British antitank teams were present in the town, but the
armor provided the shock necessary for the less experienced German infantry
to press forward. As twilight settled in, the vehicles pulled back to the
cemetery and the infantry consolidated the gains. The following day, the
infantry would successfully storm the last British strongpoint, leaving the
town in German hands. However, after being wounded, Lt. Lentz refused to
leave the battlefield and was subsequently killed by an artillery shell.

the Foret du Facq in an attempt to take the high ground east of the
Moselle River. They succeeded for the most part, but a thin line of
infantry held their attack for a few moments.
Game Length: 5.5 turns
For the Germans to win they must exit units off the south end of the battlefield
For the Americans to win they must stop the German advance
Germans: Squads, MMG, LMG's, PSK, AFV's, OBA
Americans: Squads, MMG's, BAZ44's, mtr, AFV's
Boards: #14, #19

repulsed.
