First I forgot to include loss of cities, I only used gains by Japan.....#$%^ I think I'm screwed.
What's your Strategy?

Not scenario 2; how much different?ORIGINAL: witpqs
In a scenario 2 style game, Japan can muster around 16 free divisions now and 20 by Jan...so pretty much they can do anything once.
Good for you, I am a scenario one fan...
India is safe then., Japan simply lacks the supplies, fuel, oil, tanks and troops to do much.
ORIGINAL: Lowpe
We're using scenario 28-C, Da Big Babes with reduced cargo, et al capacities. Scenario one expanded in detail is a good way to think of it.ORIGINAL: witpqs

Good to know. We are both keen to play on after any auto-vic, but obviously in the spirit of things I will do all I can to avoid one on me anyway.
I think that's scenario 29-C, plus the Asian roads pwhex stuff added on top. Yeah, I heard the roads mod did not have the desired effects. It was worth a shot.ORIGINAL: Lowpe
With Wargamr I am playing the same mod with reduced cargo, SL, but with a Dec 8th Start to avoid all the metagaming that goes into turn 1, and Asian Roads (an attempt to salvage China for the Allies).
Asian Roads didn't prevent China falling absurdly fast.

How much do you figure you need the extra AA power if you DO meet enemy air opposition?ORIGINAL: witpqs
Semi-strategic musing:
All 6 USN fleet carriers have ~21 day long upgrades in October 1942. Should we just do them all at once to have the fleet ready for late '42 action, or one at a time so there is a substantial carrier force ready to oppose landings at the likes of Pago Pago, Fiji, New Caledonia, and so on?

All in all they are Very big upgrades. Lots of 40 mm's involved.
How long until the next upgrade after that - would doing them singly run into the next upgrade?
Early '43, but I am really concerned about battles by the end of '42/at the very beginning of '43 around auto-vic time.
Can you get away with a 3-3 split, or a 2-2-2 and be comfortable with the number of carriers you have available to take on the enemy?
What I'm struggling with is this: no attrition to the IJN carriers to speak of, so if I have 3 or 4 carriers ready is that even enough or does it have to be all 6?
How much LBA do you have to take care of the bases between P-P and New Caledonia?
Between those two the substantial one is Suva. Pretty well defended, good fortifications, and I suppose the DB squadrons (two, I think) from Pago Pago could transfer in then back out after a couple of strikes on an invading force.
Pago Pago is a hard target and should last a while. Noumea will quickly be a fairly hard target which should last a while (I will be sending large supply convoys there soon after the troops land so they arrive after the occupation is pretty well known).
ORIGINAL: BBfanboy
Given your concerns about a concentrated KB and the need for AA, plus the last statements about LBA and other things hardening your SoPac bases, it sounds like upgrading all six is the way to go.
