Welcome to The War College.

I think there are others that can give you a much better idea of the cost associated with repeated artillery bombardment for numerous days in a row.

In my case, the artillery units morale is in the high 90s, disruption is under 10, and fatigue remains under 30.

So far, I am not seeing heavy allied losses from my repeated bombardments and I haven't noticed a significant drop in Japanese losses. To the contrary, Japanese losses seem to be accelerating.

When fatigue gets above 30, I usually stand the artillery down for a few days until the fatigue drops below 20, then I start the bombardments again.

Sorry I don't have a more specific answer for you.

Supply usage would depend on the number and caliber of guns, and how much firing the unit did during the phase, which in turn depends on leader stats, D/L on the enemy, random variables and maybe even how much counter-battery fire occurs. IOW, you can't calculate it exactly.
I can say that when my location is not well stocked with supplies my artillery can fire off all the surplus and put the units in the red for a day or so until more supply comes in. Sustained bombardments require a really good supply pipeline.

I looked at your last map of Burma. So who is cutting off who in that rubix cube? Its a marvel if you can keep that straight. I'm a little concerned that both sides may inadvertently starve themselves to death. You are going to have a tough time keeping your back door boys in any supply...I hope your DC-3 and dakotas working overtime. The situation poses both great opportunity and great risk.
To crystalize the opportunities my hunch is that supplies will be the key. I doubt that you can keep supplies to many important point so my suggestion is pick one spot you can supply and make it your primary target even if others get away.

Like the guy that jumped out of the 25th story apartment window said on his way down when asked by those in apartments he fell past how things were going, he responded, "So far so good."

So far, so good. The Allies aren't experiencing any supply problems. The Allies have built up all the forts along the India-Burma Border so they are drawing ample supply to supply the Allies in Burma. Come the Monsoon Season I will be concerned. I think.

I knew from day one of hostilities that the Allies would need supply in Burma to support a massive ground battle in Burma. I spent the time, energy and effort to get transports to India. Jessore is a level 8 Airbase and 24% toward being a level 9 Airbase. I have the following transports at Jessore:

225 C-147 Skytrains
31 R$D-1 Skytrains
16 DC-3s

A total of 272 transport aircraft at Jessore. They have been and continue to fly supply to Akyab.

Yes, I suspect that El Lobo will be able to break-out of the Allied trap. He certainly has enough infantry divisions and tanks in Burma to mount a massive attack wherever he chooses to do so. I hope to make him pay dearly when he runs like a little girl. And, I still hope to trap a substantial part of his army in Burma and destroy the same. However, the Allied forces have numerous avenues of retreat (if necessary).

The first Allied objective in Burma is to capture Lashio.

The pressure in Burma has forced El Lobo to evacuate Ceylon and to send Japanese troops in China to Paoshan which took some pressure off Chengtu and Chungking.

I think El Lobo will fight hard in Burma until he either captures Chengtu and Chungking or gets nervous when the Allies invade the four Southern Marianas Islands on or about June 15, 1943.

-Eight (8) of the fourteen (14) bombing runs were unopposed by Japanese fighters.
-Seventy-five (75) Liberators.
-Sixty (60) Fortress'.
-Over three hundred (300) P-40K Warhawks provided LRCAP.
-The bombers were set to bomb the ground.
-The bombers bombed at altitudes of 8,000, 9,000, 10,000, and 11,000 feet.
-The fighters LRCAP was set at altitudes of 8,000, 9,000, 10,000, and 11,000 feet.
-The distances were 6, 7, and 8 hexes for the bombers.
-The distance was 2 hexes for the fighters
-The weather was Thunderstorm.

The bombers did not inflict a single Japanese ground casualty!


The Question

Any idea why the bombers did not inflict any ground casualties?

Perhaps the weather; thunderstorms?

Damage to your bombers indicates his CAP was getting through and disrupting them because your strikes were small and he could keep enough CAP up to deal with most of them. You need better coordination of strikes.

Add to that the mountain hex with probably high fort levels and it is very hard to disrupt the troops there. Look for other targets like the troops on the road south of Kunming (which are unlikely to have field forts and may be in move mode).

I don't think his CAP was the problem, as for eight of the bombing runs, the bombers went in unopposed by any enemy CAP.

Yes, there are other targets too hit for sure, but I wanted to hammer Lashio as I will be deliberately attacking Lashio when the 9th Australian Division arrives. But, I guess it is better to hit other targets versus getting goose eggs at Lashio.

Allied artillery needs training. I mean, Lashio is a big city and every round missed their target. Chinese Infantry throw rocks with superior accuracy to British artillery.

I need clarification on withdrawals. It says ships must be "off-map" or "any national home base except the NEI and PI" (the latter I assume to be Netherlands East Indies and Philippines).

ERGO, can British ships withdraw in ports at India and Oz and NZ? Can USN withdraw at PH & Pago Pago?

Precisely what is meant by "national home base"? Do possessions and commonwealth members count or not?
