He's well ahead me in that "art" of dealing with GFs/wifes etc... To me, when travelling, is always forbidden to bring with me th PC... the best i can do is to bring the ipad to remain in touch with the forum...but nothing else!

If i'll manage to get through Kunming and the last two western chinese bases and estabilish a connection with Burma, i may be able to secure a whole front for another year or so.

Port Blair and Sebang will be the other two western Bastions of the NW perimeter.
Sebang is already a level 8 AF and soon it will guest a whole reinforced division behind several forts.
The rest of the Adamans will be garrisoned, but not build up (wanna leave them as dot bases), while we'll build Tavoy and Mergui on the coast of Thailand.
The more i reduce his juicy options of advance, the more i hope to invite him in the CentPac vector...

Agree on your key hexes GJ. You can only hope for an overland attack into Burma. For me, you beat the Japanese in Burma by hooking deeper and flanking it. Silly to slog overland. Funny, but with all their growing firepower, the key to Allied victory is not in confronting the Japanese army but seizing key points on the map and forcing the Japanese to react. It is just impossible to defend every key point and the LST and Allied engineers can make just about any unattended point on the map that allows for a decent airbase very attractive.

Ramree can be bombed to dust once the allies gain the control of the seas. It's a trap. Don't like to waste important units defending it. A Thai division will be more than enough there.
A reinforced division plus some AT guns and some heavy guns (150mm and more) on the crossriver hex east of Ramree and nothing will pass trhough. Belive me. A well dug in corp of 600 AVs in +3 terrain with some decent AA units and that becomes a dead road for the allies.

Agree also that the allies should take another vector. But every other vector means an amphib op...and amphib ops are risky and take more time to be planned... just what i want: TIME. I wanna force him to chose for an hail mary pass in Sumatra or Java and a Pacific route...wanna deny him any vector that lets him use his LBA...

Also a "deep" Burma is needed untill the Chinese are finally doomed in the western chinese mountains... so i need to plan accordingly with my defences

However Cox and Akyab are impossible to be defended once the allies get their Navy back to the Bay of Bengal (once Ceylon falls).
Nav bombing + LCUs advancing on the costal road is a combo not even a good IJA division can stand. I've already tried to hold Akyab against QBall. I've had there the 33rd ID and several Arty units. Lost a whole division as soon as the allies came rolling down the road. I'll place a couple of SNLF units there, just to prevent an easy grab, but nothing more. Ramree will be defended more heavily, but just with secondary units. Wanna preserve my crack units for the places that really need to be held no matter the cost.
And even when the allies get Ramree, It won't be that easy to advance towards Pegu, Moulmein or Tavoy by an amphib landing. Sure they can, but they need to gain the total control of the skies and the seas first... and that means...lot of time, which is exactly what i am looking for. Time!!!!!

Am now massing supplies at Rangoon. The goal is to have a reserve of 400K supplies at Ragoon by the time my units will re-deploy in Burma. Rangoon and Mandalay are already level 9 AF,which will be important to keep the control of the skies for the next 12 months

The allies sweep Madras and do a massacre...

The overwhelming quality of the 1943 allied planes is really starting to hurt... 84 to 44 in his favour...ouch!

His Corsairs and P-40Ks are really making the difference now... losing far too many pilots for my liking and the KI-45 is really starting to show how much is outclassed in 1943... it's just a sitting duck, even when flown by top-quality pilots (got the very best of the IJAAF flying Nicks...)

The Tony KI-61b made its debut and got a 1-1 result...not bad but these planes won't win me the air war for sure in 1943...the Oscar is simply a much better plane

So far, the plane with the best results is the KI-43 IIIa... which cannot stand against a Corsair, but can, at least, avoid a lot of contacts being so nimble and fast

You suffered less then a 1:2 ratio. Something any Japanese player should be happy about IMO. Erik lost almost an entire month worth of P40K replacements in a single day. He will not be happy with that trade.

If you discount your Ki-45 twin engine heavy fighters (62 losses), you actally come out ahead for single engine fighters 70 allies lost to 38 Japanese.) Might be time to withdrawl them to safer areas like China and the Home Islands.

I would save Ki-45 for attacks against bombers and naval/ground bombardment and strafing. Clearly they are not made for CAP/sweep stuff.

Mine have done OK, even against P-38 stratosweeps. It really depends on pilot quality.

Made a mistake with our HRs.
Last month i've let two LBA groups refit aboard Kaga and Shokaku not to the usual 45 a/c limit but to the ship limit.
I was hard pressed to send the CVs to the planned raid on the western Indian coast, so i've decided to keep them as they were, always keeping them at 50% rest no matter the mission, thinking that this would have solved the problem untill the CVs were avaible again.
I've now sent those two sentais to Madras and kept them at 30%CAP, 20% escort (0 range) and 50% rest, thinking that only 40 and 36 planes would have been available that day. Mistake: The allies attacked Madras and all the 81 and 72 planes took off simultaneusly. Told Erik about it and asked for a re-do (i would have substituted those two sentais with 2x45 planes "normal ones", but he declined.
Feel sorry. Even if 70 planes didn't make any critical difference in the outcome, i hate to break the rules , especially when the initial oversight was recognized in time and not corrected immediately :-/
I've sent them now back to resize to 45... One is already resized. The other one will be resized as soon as the fragments reach Singapore.

However... Madras is heavily attacked again!
The KI-45s are sent back to Calcutta and Rangoon, substituted by some decent 1E fighters.
The allies arrive with an extraordinary variation of planes... LOTS of them. LRCAP (quite a lot), Sweeps (very well coordinated) and 4E bombers heavily escorted.
They attacked even by night, causing some destruction among my planes on the runaways...
