Nah. History has proven that they can not be conquered.

Black Hawk Down - for some reason it doesn't have any maps. Which makes it a rather confusing read.
A History of the Art of War in the Middle Ages: Volume Two.

Tales by Japanese Soldiers
by Kazuo Tamayama and John Nunneley
ISBN 978-0-3043-5978-3
Personal accounts of Japanese Soldiers from the Burma Campaign. It is amazing to read how little supply they provided for their troops.
From the back jacket:
"Over 305,000 Japanese soldiers fought in Burma between 1942 and 1945. 180,000 of them died. This book tells how the common soldier of the Imperial Japanese Army lived, fought and died in that terrible conflict."

Well well. It seems that the Scandanavians were a United Kingdom at one time (Denmark, Norway and Sweden). Never knew that...

[:-] No! No! No! Never happened! No! No! No! [:-]
It was a personal union. Three Kingdoms but one King or Queen. Huge difference!

Not according to page 21.
Queen Margaret I in 1397 united the countries under King Erik of Pomerania. Three Kingdoms - one King, just like the United Kingdom in 1801.

The Old Contemptibles: The British Expeditionary Force, 1914 by Robin Neillands
I think this was one of the free books posted here in that one thread, it's only $3 now. It's a pretty good read covering the BEF before the war and through the early months. Some might not like how the author interjects his opinion on a regular basis regarding the various commanding officers. I've been playing Strategic Command WW1 so it's gives some excellent flavor for some of those scenarios.
On a semi-related to the thread note: Does anyone have book suggestions for the Korean War? It's one conflict I know almost nothing about, as there are few movies and practically no games (outside wargaming) that cover the topic.

Episode 12 of the Frontier Saga by Ryk Brown is now available!
Great "Space Opera" series. Very grandiose plan... 5 series of 15 books each set in his universe. Different time periods and new characters in each.
This is the first series and still three more books to go after this one, but Brown is a very speedy writer and produces about three books a year. Each book is pretty satisfying even with some cliff hanger endings so the wait for the next volume is not really a problem like in some series where the individual books feel incomplete. plenty of action... highly recommended.
Also if you are a Kindle Unlimited subscriber ($9.95 a month for unlimited reading with up to 10 books checked out at time) these are free to read. The new Unlimited service has worked out well for me as I've found a lot of books that I like on the eligible list. They offer a one month free trial so you might want to check it out and meanwhile pay attention to which books you are looking at for the "Kindle Unlimited" banner on them.
