A book is a book. This has to be the right place [:)]

I read "military" books only occasionally. I focus on history (NOT military though), political economy (now), philosophy (in the past). And sometimes a novel.

There is NO help for warspite.

If this is about all books then I'm currently reading: Kierkegaard: A Guide for the Perplexed  by Clare Carlisle. I'm a bit over half way through the 157 pages of the book. It's not a particularly difficult book although like most philosophy books it isn't a page a minute read. But so far it seems very readable and understandable. I've been on a "mission" recently (from God of course) to learn more about this Danish/Christian Philosopher. I was a little familiar with him from college but always wanted to delve a little deeper and in more detail. 

I started out with The Cambridge Companion to Kierkegaard, read a couple essays then realized I was getting into some unknown territory so I picked up Clare Carlisle's book in hopes of clearing things up a little before going back to the Cambridge Companion again. So far I highly recommend Carlisle's book if you're not too familiar with SK. It's very straightforward and not overly worshipful of SK...just critical enough to stir the brain cells. I also happen to love a radio talk show on BBC called "In Our Time" with Melvin Bragg. Clare Carlisle was a guest on an episode about Kierkegaard. You can find it here if you are interested in a really interesting talk about him. The Kierkegaard discussion is about 1/3 the way down the page.

Braggs show "In Our Time" is "ace" as a British former philosophy student/Internet acquaintance of mine would say. [&o]

Let's stick with one book thread.

Forget I suggested a separate SciFi/Fantasy thread It was just a thought.

A Warrior Dynasty has been put on hold. To Crown The Waves arrived and I have to get this read first. It's like a WWI version of On Seas Contested which gave a good overview of the key navies of WWII, organisation, history, infrastructure etc.

I enjoyed O'Hara's other books, too.
Friedman's Fighting the Great War at Sea came yesterday.

It's well organized, although the material is familiar.

The book I really loved is his 'Battleship Design and Development 1905-1945'. I loaned it to someone I never saw again. [:@]

I know the feeling - I have one of my books out on loan now - its been on loan for many, many months (despite polite reminders like "how are you finding the book?". I really hate it when that happens, but short of "give me my $%^&%^& book back" there is not much I can do [:(]

Have you read (or heard of) John Grainger's 'Dictionary of British Naval Battles'?
It was published 2.5 years ago, but has no reviews on Amazon.
