Looks like you came out ahead on that exchange, although I am not convinced Mutsu sank from one torpedo hit and some cruiser caliber gun hits. I only noted one CL, Tama that sank and not that much damage to any other (unless there is more combat report to post). I think the DD losses will really be painful for him - most of those were the big fleet DDs with five or six X 5" guns and those nasty long lances.

And I still need to build a tally. Hyuga sank Atago too. Yamato got 5 torpedoes. Takao was at heavy fires heavy damage last time I saw it. Then his escorts got bombed and I didn't see it then
Mutsu was with Yamato and I didn't see it in the PM strike. It also got several 1000lb bombs... Who knows?? 😊

In any case Mutsu either sank or ended with heavy damage. Considering how far it's from home at least it's out of the picture for the rest of 1943

After additional, careful revision of the combat replay, this is my final tally for enemy losses. Allied to be counted once I get the turn

So, in all, I can say I put 15 out of 25 enemy ships out of action either permanently or for a long time.

Interesting that Yamato didn't show any damage text (heavy damage, etc) after getting 5 torpedoes... can it survive so much punishment?
I will probably get the answer by counting float plane losses, this of course once I receive the turn.
In any case, my opponent said that after so heavy losses, he would need time to prepare the turn, which of course hints of bigger losses than what actually sank

EDIT: I actually missed one combat report: Mutsu got 2 torpedo hits in total



Allied losses, at first look seems to be:
5 Heavy cruisers, 1 DD, 1 AK, 1 LSI(L).. these last two probably from a Celebes invasion fleet

The combat report showing all the torpedo hits on the Yamato doesn't say anything about fires or heavy damage ... very surprising. But in any case you have definitely blunted the spear of the IJN for a long time. That was a nice bloodbath for the fans. [8D]

Yes, any slugfest is good news for the Allies now, Japan needs hit and run tactics and going against the main fleet was a gamble that was going to end badly regardless of how much damage it was going to inflict.

Next turn will likely be used to rearrange the fleet, capture Dili and then go north for the next stop

It appears he didn't use enough surface vessels and ran out of ammo and you owned them. Your carriers were in harm's way twice and got off lucky.
