I see 3 Tank Divisions in that stack approaching Nagpur. Even with bombing they will cover 16-30 miles per day. You are not going to stop that without TDs and A/T guns or some units with better tanks than the Japanese have.

Yeah, I dropped the ball at Nagpur. I was getting intel about an armored unit prepping for Jubbulpore and I over-concentrated on that. If I had bothered to study the map more, I would have realized that Jubbulpore wasn't an immediate threat anywhere else.
It's how I learn, I guess.
If they reach, I'll bail. Plenty of other bases around anyway. I had spent time earlier in the game building up oddball bases, so there's always something useful around.

If you can bulldoze your way up the coastal railroad path, he'll have to pull back from the interior. That's my amateur's recommendation. Maybe you could drop paras behind Viz to block the RR going north.

I stood the bombers down in India. Two squadrons of Jugs and one of Hellcats will sweep Raipur. If I can finish the fighters there off, my job will become easier.
The 255 Armored Brigade from Jubbulpore is already next to Nagpur and halfway to the base from that hex. They should arrive next turn. There's lots of tanks in that unit, including heavier ones like Lees. The three brigades are making progress. Interestingly, the arrow on his troops has disappeared. I'm wondering if they're going to pull back.

More sub encounters in Malacca.
Apart from this, I hit another xAK near Japan. I have two subs beat up here. About two days ago, another was sunk in this area. Another reminder of how much I hate shallow water sub ops. There's about half a dozen more subs in the deeper water north of Malacca. If he pushes his fleet on, I should have eyes on it. I've also moved a squadron of PB4Y-1Ps to Madras, and with their 25 hex range, (I didn't max it) they should cover nearly to Rangoon.
CF's advance unit reaches Nagpur. My big armored unit is with the other enemy in the adjacent hex to the SE. I'll let him attack there. My three infantry brigades are probably three days from Nagpur. Airplanes have relocated. A division of West African troops are enroute from Karachi
I've moved the troops at Bezwada out towards Cocanada. I should well outnumber him this time around, and I figure he needs another distraction from the Nagpur business. Loads of bombers are hitting his guys at Nagpur, since they should be safe from fighter interference.
More support troops are shipping to Ceylon.

About shallow water subs - one of the forum members did a study of sub attacks vs water depth vs sub captain stats and concluded that subs with high naval skill/moderate aggression captains did well in shallow water and took less damage than subs with high aggression skippers. The theory was that overly aggressive captains lack the patience to stalk persistently and carefully.
In deeper water the high aggression skippers attacked more often and usually got away without significant damage.
After doing the study the author sorted his subs accordingly and assigned them deep or shallow based on his findings, and it reduced his loss rate a lot.

CF must be thinking about my future moves, as the Monkey is showing.
At Nagpur, his troops have pulled out of the hex without making a single attack. I'm not sure if it was the bombing or the three incoming brigades which changed his mind about this. Either way, I'm able to stand down my bombers for now. My brigades are in the hex to the SE of Nagpur in the hex with his 30,000 troops. Hopefully I don't get beat up on the way out.
He's moved a number of subs into Colombo proper and sank two unescorted tankers there right offshore. I didn't have escorts at Abadan, so I'll be fixing that. In the meantime, I've got four ASW groups prowling the area. He's resorted to using the midgets here.
Even if it survives, its torpedo tubes are gone.

Do a head count of Japanese CVs. IJN probably has 12. Zuikaku heading to the yard won't change much.

Trincomalee finally falls.
The number of Japanese dead seemed low. It turns out they're still there, just kicked out of the city. I wish I could wrap this up more quickly.
Da Monkey is feeding me more on the Andamans.
I wonder if it will be worth the pain to eject them at this point. If/when I get that far, I'll work on starving them first.
The Nagpur area's a mess. He started bombing my LRP brigades last turn and was hurting them a bit. My air was pulled out, assuming it would fall. Fighters are back and giving CAP, but there's lots of bombers to deal with. I'm not LRCAPping, just using their natural range. My West African division reaches Bhopal. I'm railing them to Nagpur. They went to Bhopal, as I expected Nagpur to fall at the time.
My guys heading to Cocanada cross the river to shock attack. I saw this coming and got them out of travel mode beforehand.
Despite the beatdown, I still have a healthy advantage against them. Medium bombers are coming to help with this. I need to rest and refit the heavies.
Baker Island is still going along nicely. I can probably win this eventually through attrition. I had all but written these guys off a couple months ago. More fast transports are enroute with supply.

Baker Island is still going along nicely. I can probably win this eventually through attrition. I had all but written these guys off a couple months ago. More fast transports are enroute with supply.

The dreaded audio cue: "have spotted enemy carriers".
I couldn't tell where until I went to the big map and starting looking for TFs. I was thinking near Calcutta or something. No, they've suddenly popped up by Addu.
What to do.
At first sight, it looks pretty modest. The second group is only showing CLs and DDs so far.
I'll give it a day. I've moved more search planes to Calicut and bumped the ranges to max on the PBYs. If it looks like some four carrier group, I'll take 'em. I've moved some torp hauling Beaufighters to Calicut and escorts too. A couple B-24 units are also set to naval attack. Any attack on them should help clear up what's there.
Meanwhile, his forces have moved back into Nagpur. Escorted bombers are hitting them next turn.
Another CVE shows up at Portland. That will bring the count at Pearl to 1 CV, 1 CVL and 4 CVEs.

Maybe the Jap ships near Addu are trying to hit your supply and fuel convoys? Or prevent you from moving ground troops back to India from Ceylon?

Either looking for easy prey in an area you might consider secure enough to be sending convoys with light escort or providing cover for the two isolated bases that have been outflanked and may be at risk of being reclaimed cheaply by the Allies.

Iron Babes is a Babes adaptation of scenario 2.
It isn't a real Ironman like AndyMacs designed for solitaire scenarios with a heavily supped up Japanese side.

I'm already doing some scrambling rerouting convoys.
There's one which may be in trouble -- a supply convoy from Cape Town. I'd say it's on the edge if he doesn't race after it. Two more should be at or next to Colombo by daytime next turn. 2 more are heading for coastal ports on the west side of India.
Tooltip readouts on sightings tend to be bunk, so I'm not going to be totally sure what he has.
I'm tempted to raid the Marshall right now, or maybe land more troops on Baker.

It would seem overkill to cover two whizzy bases. I'm guessing the anti commerce mission.

It's the number of aircraft and not the ship types listed that make me think you are facing at least five IJN carriers. In my experience the aircraft totals are a better, and more accurate, reflection of what is there.
I think he tried to sneak into your rear to cause havoc with follow up TF's or hunt for your CV's. I don't think he planned on getting spotted so soon. He may still come, as I'm guessing it's his entire carrier fleet.
