The Indian para Bde has been on the march ever since being flown into Paoshan and will arrive at Kunming tomorrow. The first enemy unit has already made it to the town. The two tank units are now one hex west of Paoshan and moving as fast as they can. George fighters continue to sweep Kunming but also swept Paoshan today. They were reduced to fighting our radar beams, as all fighters based there were on LRCAP over Tsuyung.
The attack at Truk went poorly compared to last time with regards to casualty ratios, evidence in my mind that adequate rest tips the scales faster. Our force AV dropped to 660, a much larger dip, and fell significantly more than the defender's AV must have (from looking at the combat results). We did destroy a number of Imperial squads. The bombardment TF did not make it that far - I should have used full speed. They will bombard tonight to keep up the pressure.

The various task forces at and around Truk are refueling and will do so for the next day or two. PacAO is loading at Ponape and will be in place on Truk before the next ground assault.
The tanker sunk was NW of the Marianas, and there are seen 2x TK and 2x AK in the northern Marianas. Presumably the Empire is equipping bases there to carry the fight when the southern Marianas is invaded. The lighter carrier forces have been unseen for a few days, but these carriers are still operating to the west.

Keep atacking at Truk. 37 combat squads destroyed is a lot of adjusted A.V. . Keep pressing... Marines are very tough. Don't hesitate to mantain the offensive.

The problem is that successive attacks - when the attackers have gained elevated disruption and fatigue, like in this situation - have always resulted in the loss ratios getting much worse for the attacker. When PacAO gets ashore that should change things significantly.

I might propose that one thing your model assumes is infinite supply .. I think in this case the defender is limited and you can reinforce supplies. At some point the multiplier for supplies kicks in although you do not have data how close you are ...
But we do know that DA's and ground attacks by air diminish supply along with recovering disabled squads if they are doing so ....

Agree. So far the flak is still murderous, so I know he has supply. I only fly the attack bombers (B-25D1 and B-25G) on ground assault turns, and lost 12 or 13 of them last time. No idea how high his piles of reserves are.

Those 88L71's AA guns are modeled quite well in the game [8D] Maybe eventually you will get lucky and disable these bad boys so you can ground attack effectively .... [;)]

And to illustrate more clearly how tough it is on attack bombers specifically, here are just the Allies' flak losses. Note that attack bombers have made some shipping attacks (noted in the AAR - very tough flak) and attacked mostly only on the turn of ground attacks at Truk.

While it sucks that the Flak at Truk is murderous I´m glad flak is more potent in DBB. Especially ship flak is almost non existant in vanilla.
USS Houston fought off a complete Netty strike on her own in the Java sea. In 42. Flak was so intense the Jap pilots couldn´t get into position to drop their torps. In AE they would have scored a 80% hit rate with 2 damaged from flak! [:D]

50th Indian Para Bde has arrived at Kunming, and immediately lost all supply! Stacking in the city is 92,000 vs 25,000. One problem I just ran into is that several disorganized units are not accepting movement orders. There are 2 enemy units in the hex - does that matter? Anybody know?
The two tank units will enter and pass mostly through Paoshan tomorrow. Still having trouble getting enough supply into Ledo to support the bombers and provide drop tanks for recon. The battle for the mountains of China is mostly a foot race at the moment.
The PacAO convoy has been ordered to stop loading supplies and make for Truk. That should put their landing at the day after tomorrow. Fueling continued today and will finish tomorrow for the fleet around Truk. Here is a look at the troops there.

It seems the Combined Fleet is moving to the Marianas. Cabrilla got valuable Intel. Far to the AW, off of New Guinea, Barb managed to be more annoying. There are several convoys at various of the Marianas Islands.

PacAO will land tonight/tomorrow at Truk. I discovered the reason that the last landing on Truk was worse than prior ones. I had the two shore party units in reserve, and engineers only work in combat mode. I put them in reserve to keep them from being rendered useless in combat (they are need to support both supply and troop unloading). That error cost at least 70 or 80 AV, close to or perhaps the amount needed to have taken the base shortly after that landing. Here are the troops at Truk.

Allied subs were very active, twice drawing blood from what looked like a small SCTF north of New Guinea. The remainder of that force is not seen.

Various Chinese units in the mountains are taking replacements as supply is in evidence here and there. Kunming is still greatly over stacked but ineffective units are moving out. Now 5 enemy units at Kunming.
Manus port is now size 7 (max), so we have that plus Kavieng size 6 (and soon Truk size 7). Hollandia is currently size 4 and will be built to size 6.
PacAO unloaded at Truk, and the assault is on for tomorrow. The operation cost us a destroyer and heavy damage to an APA that has fires=51. Other ships received lesser damage.
