Let's say I take this as a (un)conscious mistake to highlight my viperish aggressive style of play being able to kick John's butt instead of being a fellow of good vibes... [;)][;)][;)]

The problem I really had was that my Australian Invasion game had ended and I still had the slow moving game with Viperpol (who was kicking my BUTT) and Dan's. Viperpol really got the short end of the shaft and I apologized for that. Had to make serious choices regarding just what I could afford to do and how much time I could allow for the game. These were, honestly, very difficult decisions. Reality is that I can barely handle one game right now.

Simple reality is that when we started playing I had games with Dan and Lew going. Adding a 3rd slow-moving game (as the Allies) held great appeal. Running three games wasn't too bad but then I became the owner/manager of the store. Life pretty much went to HE** at that point. When Lew threw in the towel in the Australia game, I thought that would do it but it did not free enough time up.

The break in playing completely helped some but I have had to make up my mind as to only one game. This is my choice. Pretty much as simple as that. A game moving at just 2-3 turns a week vs a high profile match with AARs running made the decision easier. Would love to keep playing the match (especially since you are kicking my buttocks! [:D]) I feel bad about the process but real life intervenes. I've apologized before and I'll do it again. Call it a command decision.

So it was Dan's game that you took as a third one.

December 24-25, 1942

The pieces are now taking their places for the Aerial Campaign to begin against Sabang. Georgetown and Alor Star are nearly fully repaired and once that occurs the 1st MASSED SWEEP shall occur.

A Burma Counterstroke is now in the works as well.

The 6th ID is 75% unloaded. Supplies have climbed over 10,000 and everything looks good. Figure two days before we launch the attack to begin the destruction of five Allied units.

The CVLs and CVEs meet in the northern Coral Sea and head for Tulagi to fuel. At that point we come south and shall watch developments.

Norfolk Island
Grabbed this earlier when I thought Dan was making his attempt at New Guinea. Did not notice that the AF is Sz-1. Am moving a BF Coy there and shall base some assets their for air search.

Have brought down my first two Chutai of Recon Judy. Am basing one of each at Koumac and Noumea.

Sumatra
Sibolga
The new pair of Inf Div move into the hex NW of Sibolga. Man! The Engineers are really cranking on this base: AF-3 on the 25th.

Nias
Time to attack. The Japanese Inf is now fully ready and the base is hit by BB Fuso on the 24th. It will be hit by Fuso and 100 bombers on the 26th. I hope to take it on the first attack.

KB
The three CV TF depart Padang on the 24th and head away from Sumatra. They will then move up and challenge the Allied Fleet. Figure this development will occur at the same time as the aerial assault on Sabang. This will be timed to cause maximum consternation with Mister ROPER.

Dan bombards the 2nd and 10th ID here to probably see what has moved into the hex. He has a full strength Inf Reg and four beat-up (forced to retreat from Sibolga) Inf units. When my fresh ID arrive, these four ID shall CRUSH this opposition and then drive on Medan.

Malaya
Singapore
Begin loading the Inf Brig that helped take Alor Star onboard ship for the Sinabang Invasion. The 48th ID will load tomorrow for TJB. It will join the 14th ID on the coast below Medan to attack from that direction.

A powerful STF of BB Yamato and 4 BC and 8 DD depart Singers for TJB. Had planned to send them to link-up with the KB but changed my mind.

Georgetown and Alor Star
Both are clearing their AFs as described above. Each will have enough Base Force to handle nearly 200 planes a piece.

Burma
Supplies flow into all my bases this turn. Bases that were marginally supplied are now at 15-25,000 pending on how important they are. Rangoon sits at 80,000+. Overnight I pick-up 125 new airframes and trade out bombers and fighters for several units. Hosannah!

Prome
The 2nd TK Div picks up 18 AV in one turn! The other Inf Div present gains 11. Am waiting for the 12th ID to arrive and then we move across the Irrawaddy and then enter the southern portion of the Allied Box.

55,48
East of Ramree sees the 21st ID gain an Infantry unit that bumps the AV up 128 points. Should help. Have two Artillery units moving there as well.

Surface Action
My little STF are doing pretty well. On the 24th, a STF of 4 DDs run into a nice convoy and sink AP Duchess of Bedford, 2 AK, and KV.

A 6 DD TF departs Port Blair on the 24th and begins hunting on the 25th.

China
Begin attacks on the last Chinese position holding the RR Line from Changsha to Kweilin and such. Score a 1-2 on the 25th versus one full strength Corps and two beat-up Inf units. IF the two Japanese ID can take this hex this shall be a game-changer in China. Rapid movement along this line would be FANTASTIC.

You are correct in your commentary in taking on the match with my old nemesis. The two of us challenged each other for for nearly four years but the opportunity to come to grips never happened due to schedules and other matches. When Dan asked, I jumped at the opportunity. Forgot that we started after our match began.

I'm glad you are OK. As stated I feel very bad about the situation and would gladly keep us going if it wasn't for my changed commitments with the store and time with the family. If that changes at all I would love to continue the game. Playing the Allied Side was an eye-opening experience and I learned BUNCHES from it. Would love to keep doing that...

Ain't gonna happen. He has about 700 troops there from when they took it back from Japan and hasn't added a thing since then. Don't worry it is on the LIST!

To clarify the above statement: I plan to use the four Regiment/Brigade-sized units being used to take Nias and Sinabang to recapture Phuket, Trinkat, etc...and YES Construction units and BF will follow the captures.

The Japanese Sub Arm continues to have excellent success in preying on Allied shipping to this point of the war. As long as the Subs keep getting moved along to differing areas they do pretty well. Have one Ro- and thirteen I-Boat Submarine ACES right now! Three I-Boats lead the pack with eight successful attacks each (I-6, I-8, I-164). The best hunting grounds are pretty obvious from the list below.

Only 10 Japanese SS (8 I-Boat and 2 Ro-) have been sunk at that point. Have been lucky to get a number of boats home that were severely damaged but lived to fight another day.

Where did the data come from?

I have an SS section in the daily notes I take. I list the attack, SS, location, and type of hit/hits. Every six months I go through the confirmed ship sinking list to see if the ship is still there or has moved off it. You'll note several attacks upon the same ship. One is listed as damaged (D) and other has the sinking. What do you think?

This war has seen excellent success by the Sub Arm to this point.

Looks more fun than keeping track of IJAF raids, sorties and Chinese casualties.

It is. This is a side of the game few people keep tabs on. I really like watching to see how well the IJN SS do.

RA features a lot of changes to aircraft building. Some types do not exist in this game (Jack) while others are added (the creation of a separate Zero Land-Based variant line and CV-Based variant line). All Japanese players know (or should know) how to work the research so you may bring planes in earlier if wanted. Such is the case right now in Dan and I's game. Here are the newest Fighters coming on-line along with what my production will be:

12-42 Tony: Just advanced a month and has started production at 60 planes a month.

01-43 A6M4: Land-Based Interceptor with slightly better speed then M3b and better guns (2 20mm + 2 12.7mm). Plan for about 100 a month. May bump that to about 150 if needed. Have got GOBS of M5 right now so I might shift one factory over to this model.

02-43 George: This model has advanced two months currently and amy come forward into January. I really hope so. LIKE this aircraft. Production is set for 112 planes a month.

Engines are all in good shape:
1. Need to expand my Ha-45 (George) research some so we have plenty for it.
2. Running a little short of Naka Ha-34 so will bump that another 60 or so.

Just got Nick KAIb producing and shall shift the KAIa over to this model so we have about 50 a month being produced.


Here is a current screenshot of Sumatra with my planned troops movements. Note that Dan's SS are slightly reduced. I have dedicated nearly 100 planes to ASW and have 4 ASW TF moving through the area. Am managing to damage 2-3 SS per day between the planes and TF.

Is the Nick line different in this scenario? If not, I would stick with the KAIa version. Much better than the next two. I'm just transitioning away from it now in late 44 and it's been serviceable the entire war as a bomber killer and still doesn't do badly against fighters due to it's durability. Had one kill a Corsair recently. [:)]

Obvert is 100% correct , assuming the rest of the line hasn't been adjusted in this scenario.. I'd ditch later models. Check the graphic with the cannons/mg added. Kala is the best plane in the Ki-45 line and the only one worth having. Note the cannons in the later models being woefully inaccurate.
