Wouldn't it be a UNP?....GP
Nope - I intended to claim it - even if the previous poster unintentionally created the new page, if it is not noticed it doesn't officially exist!

The Hurricanes improved their record to 7-0 last night, and have looked good in every game so far! [8D]

Well, the Canes ran their record to 8-0 yesterday and our visit to the house revealed the stairs have been stained and finished. We're really happy with how they came out! Closing in 4 weeks!

Thanks, BB! First, I have no idea why they put the unusual curved seam on the corners of the driveway. Perhaps the corners tend to wear and crack sooner than other parts of the driveway, so it helps them contain cracks? I can only guess.

As for the "bushes" in the back, we absolutely intend to keep around half of the property tree covered. The issue that we will have to address is that those "bushes" are actually wild Callery Pear trees. They are an offshoot from Bartlett Pears, and a throw back to the original root stock used to grow Bartlett Pear trees. They are an invasive species and they grow really fast. The "bushes" level you can see behind the house are around 8 feet tall and were brand new sprouts this year. The next level of trees behind them are around 20 feet tall and they were "bush" size last year. Their part of the lot was not cleared before construction started. They still wouldn't be a problem at all except for the fact that they grow 4 inch long spikes all over them that are strong enough to puncture tractor tires! They grow so tightly together that there is no way to make your way into/between them safely, without being impaled several times.

The solution is a long term plan (maybe 3 years) where I'll use my new chain saw and take them down for firewood to burn in the firepit we will build in the back yard. I'll be cutting them down, cutting them up, and painting the freshly cut stumps with Roundup or something similar to kill off the root structure. Once I get them cleared, the next part of the plan is to replant the entire "grove" with red and yellow oaks and maples. I want to back fill the entire area with desirable trees to provide lots of nesting area for birds and squirrels, as well as some cover for deer that we've seen tracks from on the land. I may be overly ambitious, but right now I'm looking forward to working on this project. [:D]

Consider putting in some Black Walnut trees there, they apparently put out a chemical that seems to deter other trees from growing. Plus, they are intensely flavoured.
