Once said minion is up to speed, I'm supposed to get more assignments.

Allow me to translate that for you:

When said minion is up to speed, you will get more assignments just before said minion is promoted/transferred to another department - you will keep additional assignments; if said minion does not get up to speed, you will get more assignments and will take up slack said minion creates in permanent lack of productivity.

I hope this clears things up in time for your weekend.

Nope. I know the contract the new minion is being hired under, and there's no possible promotion or transferring involved.

Contract!

Yep, same contract I was originally hired under, back in '08. Six months, with a possible six-month extension. I just did so well that I was hired back.

I had a totally different take on that.

The new minion is being brought in to do other assignments but also to be trained up to take over your job in the future. You've got 6 months to train the minion up to know just enough to lose / fire the high priced (T) talent and start this inevitable cycle over again.

T's best defense here is to do a miserable job of training this person or make this person hate the hospital so much that they leave for other more agreeable employment shortly before the end of their contract...

T: I trust you are capable of providing a 'slow burn' misery on your new coworker?

Hi all,

Nah, things aren't so bad. I'm generally left alone to do things my way, although she's now bringing in another minion. Once said minion is up to speed, I'm supposed to get more assignments.

When you will discuss your contract and, hopefully, full time permanent position?

BTW, is minion your subordinate?

I would agree with your theory, but only if said minion was a foreigner brought in on some sort of Danish visa program designed to displace native workers (like the one in the US).

Early-to-mid February, and no.

That's what I did before I left the last time, and it failed so miserably that they had to call me back.
T: I trust you are capable of providing a 'slow burn' misery on your new coworker?

Who, me? I'm the nicest man in the world; I'd never do something like that.

This sounds exactly like something the BOFH (Bastard Operator From H**l) and his minion the PFY (Pimple Faced Youth) would cook up ...

The BOFH stories can be found here in case you've missed them.

In typical British fashion, they got their butts handed to them in the early going of the war but IIRC the Royal Navy came out on top in the long run, n'est ce pas?
