Formosa: Washington tries to cross the Delaware to bombard Trenton but the Hessians are ready this time. WJD naval forces were known to be at Takao so a fast destroyer force of 4 DD's was sent ahead....but they apparently stopped to fish for frying fish or something. Washington empties her magazines....on poor Katori. We are getting better at this night fighting thing. The radar works. We fire first.
Night Time Surface Combat, near Takao at 84,66, Range 6,000 Yards
Japanese Ships
CL Katori, Shell hits 15, and is sunk
DD Oyashio, Shell hits 2, on fire
DD Tadeyame, Shell hits 3
Allied Ships
BB Washington, Shell hits 4
CLAA Oakland
CLAA Reno
DD Grayson
DD Laffey
DD Meade
They break off but stumble back together and burning Oyashio is finished off.
Night Time Surface Combat, near Takao at 84,65, Range 1,000 Yards
Japanese Ships
DD Oyashio, Shell hits 1, and is sunk
DD Tadeyame
Allied Ships
BB Washington
CLAA Oakland
CLAA Reno
DD Grayson
DD Laffey
DD Meade
Another group of IJN DD's. We spot them at 23K yds on radar and then drive right up on them. Fighting starts at 1000 yds. Reno gets Rong Ranced. Yayoi sunk. Hayashio wrecked. Looks like no bombardment tonight. Gaak
Night Time Surface Combat, near Takao at 84,65, Range 1,000 Yards
Japanese Ships
DD Hayashio, Shell hits 7, on fire
DD Suzukaze
DD Yayoi, Shell hits 5, and is sunk
Allied Ships
BB Washington
CLAA Oakland
CLAA Reno, Shell hits 4, Torpedo hits 2, and is sunk
DD Grayson, Shell hits 1
DD Laffey
DD Meade
When the sun comes up we haven't made good our escape...but the P-38's from Batan Is. are overhead. Another brush with the DD's. Most likely everyone is out of ammo.
Day Time Surface Combat, near Takao at 84,66, Range 15,000 Yards
Japanese Ships
DD Hayashio, Shell hits 1
DD Suzukaze
Allied Ships
BB Washington, Shell hits 1
CLAA Oakland
DD Grayson

Remember, remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason, why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, Guy, t'was his intent
To blow up king and parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below
To prove old England's overthrow.
By God's mercy he was catch'd
With a darkened lantern and burning match.
So, holler boys, holler boys, Let the bells ring.
Holler boys, holler boys, God save the king.
And what shall we do with him?
Burn him!

Meanwhile, on the other side of Formosa, Takao evidentry aims to sneak up on our lads unloading at Karenko. One of her escorts takes one "up the chuff". Looks like she was just outside of the chopped own range of our SBD's at Karenko.
Sub attack near Taihoku at 90,62
Japanese Ships
DD Asakaze, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
CA Takao
DD Arare
DD Oite
DD Shirakumo
Allied Ships
SS Pickerel, hits 1

I guess that's how it happens after WWII(c). (since you cant seem to get it done with ship dispositions)
In RL we seem to be entering an age of exceedingly malleable history/fact. Not sure it bodes well...
Good point. I look up
PT-109, there she is right in the middle of the action at Karenko....but who the Hell is Lt. JG Pawlak? He sounds like a damn Polack. Guys never gonna make President with a name like that.
Yeh not President, just Prime Minister

[:D] And quite a handsome lad he is. Good with an Elko boat as well.
4th, 6th, 8th, 11th and 13th Prime Minister of Poland.[;)]
Say, Acid, I hope I wasn't out of line with the commentary on wife's family. [:)]

********Forward Base, MTB Squadron 5, Karenko**********
Cdr. Corleone: Look, Pawlak, you can't put the Polish flag ABOVE the Stars and Stripes, I told you that already. I don't care if you are the great great grandson of Tadeusz Kosciuszko.
Lt JG Pawlak: <surprised look> How did you know that, sir?
Cdr. Corleone: Do you mean to tell me you really are? Never mind, it doesn't matter. Stars and Stripes on top, capisce? Don't screw up! You're dismissed.

Cdr Cross: Thanks Kowalski! <accepts a steaming mug of coffee from the eager sailor who stands there silently smiling> Kowalski, you aren't going to ask me about the flag again, are you? It a FISH! It's the name of a FISH!

Good with an Elko boat as well.
Not likely, but maybe his father frequented breastaurants at Karenko and dined on sushi with a young man in fine linen slacks during the war. Did the Polish navy operate Elko boats during the Warsaw Pact era? They had to somehow defend the Baltic coastline they got for relocating westward and northward in 1945.

Looks like the shipping that departed Brunei is heading for Saigon. Seems like they are using the overland oil movement route.
JJ wisely evacuated Iba before wee could attack and pulled back to Clark. They evidentry mean to hold at Clark and Manira, which is sound. Looks like a long bombing campaign.

Ohhhhhhhh. I get it. It's the
effigy that is being burned. Quite a way to achieve immortality. The real Guy Fawkes, knowing he was likely to be slow-hung, drawn and quartered, instead jumped off the gallows platform and did a perfect swan dive, neatly breaking his neck. Quite possibly the first Guy Fawkes mask was posted on a pike on London Bridge.

Free copy of "50 Shades of Grey" in Spanish to anyone who wants it. A patient left it here and is too embarrased to come back to get it.
"Cincuenta Sombras Mas Oscuras" [:D]
You pay shipping.
I was looking for a doctor directory for LA Children's Hospital to show the seriously cute physician "liason" babe from the hospital and the damn thing (Spanish version of Fifty Shades) fell out on the floor. There was an awkward few seconds of silence then she turned really red. [:D] I'm not sure if she had flashbacks or she was empatheticlly embarrased for me. [:D]

I realize this may seem a bit OCD but this is how all the **** is getting to Formosa. Most of the fuel is transiting across Northern Oz from DG. Most of the damaged vessels have to go back to Sydney or the CONUS.
It is very inefficient but it is working. We are just now (last two weeks) getting fuel to Luzon. Before this we have been living on fuel in the bunkers of ported transports.
