Let this be a warning to not do a turn when you just want the whole thing to be over. The Shoho was ordered to Kobe and dutifully obeyed it's orders. Alas, it still had it's home port set to Tokyo and I did not change it. So, out it came again and got smashed. How come my ships only refuse to obey orders when they have a chance.

Bad few turns for the Empire of Japan. But, Hitler assures us that his impending offensive will win the war so I'm not too worried. Besides, we have our good friend Stalin who backs us 100%!

As for the game, this was a much better turn. Scott's carriers flew a strike at some freighters loading supplies for China in Nagasaki bay and lots of planes were lost for the cost of two large AKs. Scott also took time off from bombing Manila so that let's the AA guns recover as I continue to fly troops out.

And my sub boys got one back by putting two torpedoes into this CVL. The fuel explosion and the "heavy fires heavy damage" were both nice to see. The plane report shows dead on the field so it's likely this ship went down.

Finally, in a bit of a surprise, Scott attacked Marcus Island. My boys are almost out of supplies but they're dug in deep and have already taken a large toll of attackers. I also had a DD in port that was untouched so it's steaming out to see if it can catch anything before it goes down.

Yeah, my subs are getting hammered by his ASW patrols but if the die roll is high enough you can pick up some VP in short order.

Sadly no. I have two long range air transports in Ichi Jima that can fly supplies in but that's a paltry 2 sp per turn. Better than nothing, but won't get the job done. I'll load up some subs with supplied in Yokahama, but the battle is likely over by then.

Another turn is in the books. In an air sense not too much happened other than the higher attrition that comes with Scott bombing the bejeepers out of me.

Scott did invade Cebu and has sent his medium bomber fleet there for the past two days giving Manila a respite. I've continued airlifting my divisions out. I won't get them all out, of course, but each day that passes by gets out another 200 squads/devices which will reduce the final butchers bill. Plus, I'm saving troops with experience levels of 90+.

In China, still pretty much the same front line. The circle in red is some random tank battalion. It's too small and too far away to really do much and I have a division moving towards that hex. The circle in black is a trap I was just barely able to extricate four divisions from. Scott moved a tank unit in behind me so technically I'm in a pocket there but I have a unit moving in from the north to reopen the road. I'll get hammered from the air, but I should be able to get out when he moves his massive army up from the south.

But, the day's big battle continues to be Marcus Island. Scott's forces got pummeled. I think that they're trapped in a doom loop of required shock attacks. It's interesting to see so many dead and not as many disorganized. Given my small, disrupted, and out of supply units I'm surprised at this result. He also has failed to reduced the fort level which means that if he has to keep attacking his units will be destroyed.

The units at Marcus need only one unit of supply to not receive a Malus for supply. That is what those two units of supply will do. [8D]

Really, the combat report says I got a (-) for supply! But, 2 points is better than no points. Especially as I took no losses at all. All of Scott's troops must be disrupted.

My mistake, a unit needs only one supply point for no malus. Multiple units, maybe only the first one gets the supply.
