Well done Paul. Figured you'd get it.
The Regele Ferdinand commissioned into Romanian service in 2004. As Paul said the Exocet SSMs and Sea Wolf SAMs and associated equipment were removed prior to delivery.
here is a report from Janes back in 2004
Romanian Navy receives refreshed frigates; further enhancements will follow
The Romanian Navy received the first of two ex-Royal Navy Type 22 Batch 2
frigates, reactivated and modernised, at ceremonies held at Portsmouth naval
base on 9 September. The Regele Ferdinand (formerly HMS Coventry) will be
joined by the Regina Maria (previously HMS London) early in 2005.
The reactivation and modernisation is being achieved through a £116 million
contract (US$207m) awarded to BAE Systems Customer Solutions & Support by
the UK Defence Logistics Organisation in January 2003. Fleet Support Ltd
(FSL) carried out the refurbishment work at its Portsmouth facility, with
Rolls-Royce reconditioning the ship's two Olympus TM3 and two Tyne RM1C gas
turbine engines.
Equipment fitted as part of the upgrade includes an OTO Melara 76mm Super
Rapid gun with an Ultra Electronics/ Radamec 2500 electro-optical tracking
system; an AMS Nautis fire-control system; a BAE Systems MPS2000
message-handling system; an Inmarsat B global maritime distress and safety
system; a Terma SKWS decoy system; and a Sperry Marine Mk 39 ring-laser gyro
compass and LMX 420 Global Positioning System.
According to Ian Booth, managing director of FSL: "The Regele Ferdinand's
sea trials have shown that these ships are extremely capable and this
specific experience will allow FSL to provide valuable assistance when phase
two of the regeneration is subsequently carried out in Romania. We are
delighted to hand over the first Type 22 frigate to Romania on time and
below cost."
The second-phase upgrade, planned to take place in Romania around 2008-09,
will focus on improving the ships' capabilities with enhanced command,
control and communications facilities, the addition of new air-defence and
anti-ship weapons, and improved electronic warfare systems.
It will be interesting to see the final fit of these vessels. Even if the RN is haemoraging at least these ships and those in Brazilian and Chilean service are getting a new lease on life.

Bingo!!!!!
The ship on the photograph is the leading ship of her class.
The other 7 ships were all sold to the Peruvian Navy after their service for the Dutch Navy. The HrMs Friesland was sold for scrap.
Cheers,
Frans.

No don't think I've ever seen an LVTP7-AAAV kicking up that much of a wake.

Frans, the LVTP-7 (AAV-7) and the EFV (Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle) are two different beasts, the former capable of only about 6 mph in the water and the latter supposedly three times that (assuming it holds together and the occupants don't have their brains rattled out of their skulls, IIRC they're still working on that [8|] ).

Okay, so you meant the EFV. I didn't think this one would last long but as I said its quite an interesting craft. Apparently capable of waters speeds of between 37-46km/h (20-25knots) it is certainly a zippy performer.
It does bring up some interesting possibilities, perhaps this will be how the USMC arrives on your shores some time in the future.

Well its gone quiet again so here is another one. Sorry about the size, its sometime hard to find big enough pics of the interesting stuff. This one shouldn't be too hard regardless.
