The town falls to my troops. This town is also a big producer which is what i need. Elsewhere British planes have destroyed what is left of my southern fleet and my northern fleets continue to spar with both the soviet and US navies. British troops are also launching attacks on my line defending the river to the south of my position -
I have a dilemma about what to do next, i am quite happy for the germans and soviets to tear into each other, but i know eventually the soviets will win, do i then fortify my positions in the mountains, await the outcome and attack the british instead or do i push on and meet the soviet war machine head on??

TURN 31 -
One of my quieter turns. I am now being attacked by large air concentrations by the British. They seem to be trying to weaken my positions along the river. I intend to attack them next turn if the german / soviet front stays stable -

Here is a rundown of casualties so far. I have destoryed far more than i have lost, and there are other enemy losses further down the list (22 cruiser II a few hundred machine gun II's and a few others)
My current production is also shown here. I can only guess what the soviets are producing in comparsion, i would think somewhere in the region of 3-4 times as much. If i cant grab some towns soon i will be wiped off the map when they throw their full force at me

TURN 32 -
I start my advance against the British by using my usual strategy of bombing then attacking. However when i sent my airforce to attack a British unit, this happened -
I need to wipe this threat out, but it looks like my airforce is vastly outnumbered!!!
I manage to push british units, but at a cost. Those planes were my advantage, it looks like ive lost that now.

I decide that i need to upgrade my airforce, so i spend my research on improved fighters -

TURN 33 -
My forces smashed through the centre of the British line, cutting significant forces off from supply routes. It also looks like the Soviets are crushing the germans, I may not have time to take the British out before the reds are upon me.

Now that my southern fleet is decimated, The British are again looking to land on my main island. This means i will have to keep some troops from the main front for home defence.
This is becoming more challenging every turn. But good fun!!

Dave74, are you setting your Air Formations to "Intercept" at all? What about some pure Fighter Groups for that purpose?
Just a quick question/kibbitz/fodder-for-discussion from your Peanut Gallery.

Great AAR! I look forward to more.
Reading it does bring a couple of questions to mind regarding the time (or lack of) for research and production to be completed. It looks like technology upgrades are automatically granted to all eligible units on the same turn the points are spent on research? So all Fighter I's automatically become Fighter II's the same turn as the research is commenced?
It also appears you can build major units, ships and etc in one turn. Does anyone care to elaborate on these areas more? I am used to games like Hearts of Iron, the Civ series, GGWaW and etc in which some time passes from when research or production is commenced to when you get the benefits. I am getting hung up on the idea of instant return, but it does not seem to be an issue for folks playing the game.
Thanks!
Tony

It's all percentage-based: you allocate your resources at each city to several different units. If you choose to devote 100% of your effort to one particular unit and the city is large and is connected by roads to your HQ, then major units can be produced quickly. I think this works well in the game's favor as it don't allow for close games to bog down too much. I'm not the best expert in the upgrades department.

The challenge in this game isn't to build stuff, it's to get stuff to the front and fighting.

CTB123,
Units do not automatically upgrade, when you do research you then have to spend supply points to upgrade, which i suppose is not too dissimilar to HOI2.
As prevoiously mentioned if you devote enough production at a city to a unit it will be produced in one turn, but its experience starts off poor and you really want to wait a few turns befre front line deployment.
